In Apex Legends Season 10, known as Emergence, World’s Edge will be getting its third update since it was introduced in Season 3, and it massively changes some key locations, including Train Yard and Sorting Factory. The World’s Edge Decimated update coming to Apex Legends also radically alters the Refinery area of the map, adds even more snow, and shifts the lighting to a bluer tone to match the original version of World’s Edge.

World’s Edge received its last update back in Season 6 when new areas, such as Countdown, Staging, and Launch Site, were added. Players will be able to drop into World’s Edge Decimated and try out new Legend Seer when Emergence launches on August 3.

The most notable changes coming in World’s Edge Decimated are two new points of interest (POIs) called Climatizer, which replaces Refinery, and Lava Siphon, which replaces Sorting Factory. In a blog post, senior level designer on Apex Legends Garrett Metcalf said that the new Climatizer location is meant to, “attract more players to the northern region of Worlds Edge with a POI that’s much larger than Refinery was,” and it will have even more loot for players to fight over. Both locations will also have new gondolas that provide teams with a relatively safe way across these POIs and the lava below.

This map update also introduces a few small but noticeable changes to World’s Edge. Train Yard has been ruined as is now known as Landslide, and two new paths around the Overlook POI have been added. The first provides an extra entry point to Overlook near the large, yellow tanks, and the other adds another cave system that link Overlook to Geyser. Apex Legends players can see a few of the changes coming to World’s Edge in the recent Emergence gameplay trailer.

Season 10 of Apex Legends will also introduce Seer, the latest Legend in the roster, and the new Rampage LMG which uses thermite grenades to create ammunition and can break down doors. Emergence will also be introducing the first Ranked season for Arenas which will include three more battle royale locations as maps, a 10-match rank placement system, and win-focused progression.

World’s Edge has been slowly getting more and more destroyed as Apex Legends seasons go on. With the lava fissure also extending across to Epicenter and the new Climatizer location, players will need to watch their step to avoid burning to death. The map has been so completely ravaged by Hammond’s operations that it will be interesting to see how Respawn updates the map in future seasons to be more than just all-consuming lava and snow.

Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
