Apex Legends is in the middle of Season 13 known as Saviors for the battle royale. This latest season of the game has ushered in a lot of new content, and the recent Awakening Collection Event even introduced an heirloom for Valkyrie. Despite this, a number of issues have continued to crop up during matches, and as a result, some players are beginning to become discontent with the state of the game.

Over the last couple of weeks, gamers have reported numerous performance issues in Apex Legends. For example, those playing on Xbox Series X and S have encountered problems with input lag. In addition, many have reported hit registration issues, menu bugs in Arenas, game crashes, and more. While the developers at Respawn Entertainment have attempted to fix some of these problems, such as a recent update to address input lag on Xbox Series X/S, numerous players still think more work needs to be done.

Recently, a number of gamers have headed to Reddit and Twitter, to voice their frustrations along with making calls for a potential boycott of Apex Legends in August. This movement labeled “No Apex August” on social media has started gaining traction with some fans, as they believe that more drastic action is necessary to get the attention of the developers at Respawn Entertainment.

Even though many liked the idea, some were skeptical concerning the effectiveness of such a protest. While most agreed that various issues still needed to be resolved in the battle royale, they were unsure that enough people would be willing to stop playing the game for an extended period of time. Furthermore, several gamers noted that boycotting the game in August could coincide with the launch of Season 14 of Apex Legends, complicating matters further. Others alternatively suggested boycotting the Apex Legends store instead, arguing that not buying anything in-game would speak just as loudly to the company.

It is understandable that many passionate gamers would suggest these types of drastic measures in an attempt to have Respawn Entertainment take action. Issues such as input lag on certain Xbox consoles and inconsistent hit registration can compromise the competitive integrity of a game. This is compounded by the fact that gunfights in Apex Legends rely on minute adjustments when aiming, and often the difference between winning and losing a skirmish can come down to a split-second decision.

It will be interesting to see what happens regarding this potential boycott of Apex Legends in the coming days. It seems only time will tell if the developers are able to make the necessary changes to appease most community members. If not, there is a good chance that players might start to abandon the game in favor of other options on the market.

Apex Legends is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
