As the battle of the battle royales continues, Apex Legends shows no signs of slowing down. The continuing project of Respawn Entertainment, Apex Legends recently released a gameplay trailer for its 6th season.

Several things distinguish Apex Legends when it come to battle royale games. A first-person shooter set in the same universe as the Titanfall games, each character (Legend) has three distinct abilities all their own. This means gameplay is vastly different depending on who is chosen. The randomness inherent to battle royale shooters is also decreased somewhat by a set loadout.

Because each Legend has their own loadout, skilled players have quickly come up with fancy tricks for each one. Even one of the newest Legends, Loba, has several tricks for players to master right out of the gate, and players are using them to devastating effect. It is this spirit of discovery that has led to a new trick for Pathfinder, one of the more popular Legends. Pathfinder's ultimate ability (powerful, but with a long cooldown) is his Zipline. The ability creates a zipline for Pathfinder and his teammates to get from place to place.

The new trick was discovered by a player who laid out how to execute it on reddit. According to u/usamagottime, the zipline's length can be extended past normal in a very simple way. The zipline first locks onto a distant point, then the player activates it again to actually deploy the line. If the player keeps the zipline locked on a distant point, then walks backwards, the line will be much longer than intended when fully deployed. Even though Pathfinder was recently nerfed, he still ranks among the best Legends in Apex Legends, and this trick is sure to make those still playing him very happy.

A video was included showing how the trick works, although the zipline is not fired in it. However, another video in the same thread shows a very, very long zipline being used, so it does work. Several users in the same thread have confirmed the trick works consistently. At this time, it does not seem to be a glitch like Loba's unauthorized Vault entry. It's more of an exploit of how the ability already works.

While the exploit is certainly interesting, many players have stated the obvious: it's not particularly useful in a fight. Zipline is meant to get players into or out of a hot spot location fast, and the elongated zipline requires a lot of time to set up. Still, when properly done, a lot of ground can be covered very fast. Whether or not Respawn will reach out to balance this, or comment on it like it recently addressed Apex Legends' hipfire accuracy, remains to be seen.

Apex Legends is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Switch version in development.
