Apex Legends has been a force for good in the Battle Royale genre that has kept fans glued to the game since its release. The wide variety of characters and weapons available give the game a level of excitement that it's hard for other games to offer.
Fuse may be the current hot topic, but one of the last season's most exciting additions to the game was the Olympus map. There are a lot of interesting points on the map and the best players need to know where to land, where to avoid, and all of its other features to win.
Don't Fall Off The Map
While this advice may seem obvious, it's incredibly important. Olympus has a variety of places where players can fall off the map. It's important to know these locations when planning attacks and also when trying to retreat. Getting backed into a corner where the only choice is to fall to their doom is something no player wants.
Plus, the smartest gamers can use these points to their advantage. Crafty players can use Wraith's Dimensional Rift to send others tumbling off the edge if they can trick them into walking through it. It's even possible to set up a well placed Jump Pad to send players unexpectedly flying off towards death.
Know All The Locations
Look, it might seem boring, but it is important to memorize the names of the locations on the map and where to find them. No one wants to be partway through a match and have their teammate tell them a point to retreat to only to end up stranded and alone. Here's a simple list to get players started:
- Bonsai Plaza
- Carrier
- Docks
- Elysian
- Energy Depot
- Estates
- Gardens
- Grow Towers
- Hammond Labs
- Hydroponics
- Oasis
- Orbital Cannon
- Power Grid
- Rift
- Solar Array
- Turbine
There are a lot of specific places to find weapon spawns, vehicles to get into, and much more. Knowing exactly where they are is vital to finding success on the map. Get to studying!
Avoid The "Death Spot"
Every game has glitches, it's almost impossible to avoid them all. On Olympus, there's one glitch in the map specifically that will get players killed. It's known as the Death Spot.
The Grow Towers have a tendency to trap players and not allow them to move when they try to jump onto the first curve of the tower. It turns players into sitting ducks so the smartest legends will be sure to avoid it.
Land In The Gardens
The Gardens is a popular landing spot but not one where players will be killed too easily. It has tons of spots to loot and a lot of cover for players to keep safe behind even if a lot of enemies are in the area.
It's also well positioned, allowing players to quickly and easily head to other parts of the map, like the Rift, Grow Towers, and Energy Depot, after they are well equipped.
Use The Phase Runners
Fast traveling in any game is helpful, but these literal teleporters can get players out of a tight pinch. The Phase Runners on Olympus are located at Hydroponics, Hammond Labs, and next to the Energy Depot. Players can use these to travel from one of these locations to another in an instant.
Just be aware that players can camp these points and use them as a perfect way to shoot players trying to make hasty retreats. Heck, why not grab some guns and try it out to see if the strategy gets a lot of kills?
Don't Land In Hammond Labs
It can be incredibly tempting to land in Hammond Labs as there's a lot of wonderful loot to grab early on. However, as it is incredibly popular as a landing spot, it's a great way to end up in a firefight way too early on.
Instead, players should consider heading to the Research Basin, an unnamed area just north of Hammond that overlooks the labs. There's a lot of high tier loot there and it offers a tactical way to take the high ground before heading down to take out opposing players.
Don't Follow The Flower Arrow
Particularly craft players might have noticed a hidden secret on the map — a hidden flower arrow. The arrow is only visible from the air in the Estates and points off in a specific direction. Tempting to see where it leads, right?
Unfortunately, the arrow doesn't actually point towards any notable loot. In fact, it doesn't seem to point towards anything important at all at this time, so for now, it's nothing more than a curious decoration. While it might be tempting, don't waste time following the arrow.
Know Where Tridents Spawn
Olympus has the first vehicles to show up in Apex Legends known as Tridents. They are literally indestructible and can fit up to three players making traveling with a squad convenient and easy. While passengers can also fire from the vehicle, it tends to be more for traveling, not for fighting in.
There are currently eleven spots where Tridents can spawn, including:
- Bonsai Plaza
- Docks
- Elysium
- Gardens
- Grow Towers
- Hydroponics
- Orbital Cannon (x3)
- Power Grid
- Rift
Snipe From The Solar Array
The Solar Array being a high-up vantage point is an obvious spot for sniping, but that's not the only reason why it works so well. Players have a view of three separate choke points on the map from this single location. Plus, there's are Phase Runners close by which make for a fast getaway when needed.
Know Which Legends Work Best
Respawn Entertainment tries its best to perfectly balance the game but let's face it, that's an impossible task. Some Legends will simply be stronger than others and some are going to also be better on certain maps. Caustic is particularly good on this map as there are many more areas where close-quarters combat takes place as an example.
