It's clear that Respawn's newest battle royale title, Apex Legends, is a leaky ship. Not only did the Havoc energy rifle leak before it launched, but there have been rumblings of new characters for some time now. One of these characters is Prophet, who will reportedly have some type of Precognition ability, and the other is Octane, a high-speed daredevil character.

Not much else is known about Prophet, but images of Octane and his abilities have continued to circulate online. Many didn't believe that Octane would be a real character, as the leak itself was rather questionable, but since then, an anonymous source speaking to Daily eSports confirmed that Octane was indeed real and that he would be coming to Apex Legends soon.

According to this source, Octane is tied heavily to the game's upcoming Battle Pass. He'll supposedly be used to promote the Battle Pass and the first season of Apex. We've also known that Apex's Battle Pass would be coming sometime in March, but this source went on to confirm its release date, meaning that Apex players should see Octane added to the battle royale title on or sometime before March 12.

This means that there's less than a week before Apex Legends gets its first new character, and it's likely he's bringing a lot with him. It seems he'll be a quick-hitter like Wraith, but if he becomes as popular remains to be seen. His rumored abilities give him a passive HP regen, a speed boost, and a launch pad, so it seems likely that he'll shake up the meta at least.

Even if this source is incorrect about the release date of Octane, this just dogpiles on the evidence that he is a real character coming to Apex Legends. It's worth mentioning that QOL changes and the introduction of a Battle Pass system will likely do much for the game as well, as it continues to outpace the king of BR, Fortnite.

Apex Legends is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
