A new Stories of the Outland trailer has confirmed the new season of Apex Legends to be dubbed Eclipse. This trailer focuses on the new legend joining the Apex Games, who is known as Catalyst.

Respawn has been aware of how offensive-heavy the Apex Legends character list has become, and in the past, acknowledge how it is paying attention to other classes in the game. Catalyst joins quickly behind Newcastle, after all, but fans did get a new scout legend with Vantage. Hopefully, the next one will include another support character like Lifeline and Loba.

This Apex Legends trailer sees Catalyst discussing her past with Rampart, with Catalyst first reading the crystals about Rampart, but then diving into her past. Catalyst appears to be young and was confirmed to be a teenage on Boreas, one of the planets in Apex Legends' universe, who witnesses Hammond Industries destroying the moon of Boreas, Cleo. Catalyst and Margo's friends ditch theme, as Margo pushes for extreme measures, and the two have a conversation about their strengths. Margo sees a strength in Catalyst, who recently transitioned, and this strength comes out as Catalyst seemingly learns she can manipulate ferrofluid on the base. Unfortunately, it goes south when Margo detonates a bomb, and the trailer comes back to the modern day.

Although not obvious by the trailer, Respawn has confirmed that Catalyst is a defensive legend with an almost magical control over ferrofluid. How this translates into defensive abilities is unclear at this time, but hopefully it'll make her stand out from defensive legends like Gibraltar, Caustic, Rampart, and Newcastle. Fans will learn more in the coming days either way.

And this new legend, new season, and whatever other new content is coming will launch on November 1. Not much has been shown about Apex Legends: Eclipse yet, but given how much changed last season, fans can expect quite a bit. This trailer reveals another one is coming on November 20, so fans don't seem to have a long wait ahead of them either.

Apex Legends is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
