Following its regional launch back in February, Apex Legends Mobile is already experiencing problems with cheaters. Although only available in a few select countries at the moment, Apex Legends Mobile players have spotted similar issues to those that have plagued the base version of the title.

Launched in 2019, Apex Legends has now evolved to be a staple in the battle royale genre over the past few years. However, the game has often suffered from cheaters of every form, ruining the experience for its player base. While Respawn has actively looked to mitigate these issues through its own "Easy Anti-Cheat" system and manual bans, the problems continue to be a regular occurrence. Last month, Apex Legends Mobile soft-launched in 10 countries and announced that it will expand into other regions soon. More recently, developers opened up pre-registration for Apex Legends Mobile alongside the new gameplay trailer. Amidst all this, the same cheating issues appear to have already extended to the mobile game as well.

An example of this was seen in a post on the Apex Legends subreddit that shows a player noticing an opponent with aimbot and wallhacks enabled in the mobile game. After being eliminated during the match, "HamadKx" spectated an Octane player that could be seen to be locating enemies instantly and landing every shot with the Peacekeeper shotgun. While these types of hacks are nothing new in Apex Legends, it paints a worrying picture for a game that has just launched and is only available in a few countries.

Although Respawn is yet to comment on the matter of how it plans to address this on mobile, the company has already announced its efforts into combating the cheating issue. Last year, Respawn stated that it would hire more people to manage manual bans, develop better DDoS management tools, and look to boot cheaters faster. However, as of late, Apex Legends fans are requesting more anti-cheat measures such as permanent bans and phone number requirements. Specifically, players want kernel-level anti-cheat features from games like Valorant and Rainbow Six Siege.

Cheating, in general, has been on the rise over the past few years, particularly in the battle royale space. Recently, Activision banned 90,000 cheaters from Call of Duty: Warzone via its own kernel-level anti-cheat implementation, Ricochet. So far, Respawn developers haven't made any indication that the company will follow suit with something similar. However, the presence of cheating on Apex Legends Mobile already may spell trouble for the company as it looks to push Apex Legends to more mobile gamers around the world.

Apex Legends is available on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, while a Mobile version is available in some regions.
