Apex Legends players can expect a ton of updates and new content coming to the battle royale over the next few weeks. Season 9's "Legacy" brings a new weapon, new changes to the Olympus Map, and a brand new Legend entering the battle royale called Valkyrie.

However, the development team over at Respawn Entertainment isn't just focused on the bigger changes with Legacy's impending arrival. According to comments on Reddit, Respawn will also be looking into changing smaller elements of the game, such as Apex Legends' colorblind settings.

The confirmation comes by way of Jason Garza, the community coordinator at Respawn, over on the Apex Legends subreddit. Garza responded to a post asking for some quality of life changes changes to colorblind settings involving specific character abilities. The post notes that it can be hard for colorblind players to see scans from recon characters like Crypto and Bloodhound, as their scans still show up red instead of matching the colorblind reticle colors. For example, if players have the colorblind setting set to "tritanopia" which makes reticles yellow, the scan abilities still show up in the original red instead of yellow.

While Garza doesn't explicitly confirm an update will be coming to colorblind settings at a specific time, he does mention that he absolutely agrees this should be updated in the future. However, Garza does say he will "share this with the team" to see if they can actually implement this adjustment going forward. With Season 9 on the horizon, it's quite possible these colorblind setting adjustments could come sometime during the next season. While updates, especially when not planned out ahead of time, can take a long time to actually implement into the game, hopefully a smaller scale adjustment like this won't take too much effort to add in quickly.

Additionally, Respawn has a great track record of addressing quality of life issues that make Apex Legends as inclusive as possible. Still, it's also possible that this update may take a bit more time to implement than expected, considering the development team is going to have a lot to focus on with Season 9's new content additions. Though Season 9 is still a couple weeks out, Respawn has already made it clear that this season is undoubtedly one of the biggest that Apex Legends has seen in its two years of release.

It definitely seems like the case, as the little that's been seen of the update so far is already painting a big picture for the future of Apex Legends. For instance the game is getting an all new mode called the Arena, which seems to be far more than just a small-scale side addition to the main game. Moreover, Respawn's change from the conventional numbered seasons in favor of season titles suggests that the team is planning to shake up the future of Apex Legends going forward. Hopefully, that future continues to include quality of life changes that makes Apex Legends much more inclusive for all players.

Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, with a mobile version currently in beta testing.
