One of the biggest events in Apex Legends are mid-season patches. Respawn Entertainment brings out the changes that couldn't quite make it to the start of the season in these patches. Weapon, Legend, gear, and game mode changes aren't as plentiful, but they tend to shake up the meta and how people play Apex Legends.

Patches for existing content are fine, but what really gets players back into Apex Legends during the mid-season are collection events, returning or new game modes and maps, and town takeovers. This season's patch features the Awakening collection event that unlocks Valkyrie's heirloom pack, the return of Control (as well as a Control map set in World's Edge), new tracker cosmetics, and a Lifeline town takeover on Olympus.

Of all the new content that was introduced, Lifeline's Clinic is undoubtedly going to have the biggest effect on Apex Legends. It is the only piece of content that will remain once the collection event is over, giving players a new place to explore while learning loot locations and possible rotations in the area. As far as town takeovers go, Lifeline's Clinic is one of the best locations on Olympus.

A Simple Layout With Good Level Design

Prior to its inclusion in Apex Legends, the area where Lifeline's Clinic now stands used to be home to Welcome Center - a point of interest (POI) with a number of single and two-story apartments like those found in Autumn Estates on the other side of the Olympus map. While loot in the old place was fine and the layout was varied enough to make fights interesting, there wasn't much for players to do apart from holding an advantageous position or bringing back their allies at the nearby respawn beacon.

Lifeline's Clinic gives players another place for squads to land on the northeast side of Olympus. The main draw of the POI is a respectably big clinic in the middle. Its first level can be entered from the front, back, or side doors, while the second level can be accessed via ziplines found around the center of the first-floor lobby (players can also climb to the second floor using walls on the sides of the clinic). It may seem that the two floors are all there is to Lifeline's Clinic, but upon closer inspection a basement lounge can also be found. All-in-all, Lifeline's Clinic has a very straightforward layout that only takes players a couple of visits to memorize.

Loot is Plentiful and Condensed in Lifeline's Clinic

True to her nature as one of Apex Legends' few support characters, Lifeline has stocked her clinic with enough goodies to give visiting squads a solid pick-me-up. The first floor's draw is a healing station that affects all in its area of effect. There is always a guaranteed level 3 Evo Shield in the center of the station, and those who dare to grab it will find themselves in an advantageous position - especially at the start of a match. Aside from the healing station, loot bins and ground loot found on the first floor are condensed so that players can easily gear up. The side rooms on the first floor also deserve mention, as they are one of the few areas in all of Apex Legends that house guaranteed Med Kits.

If loot on the first floor isn't enough, the bins found around the perimeter of Lifeline's Clinic as well as the second floor might give players the edge they need. There isn't anything special about these loot bins in particular, but they do provide players with a random assortment of supplies. However, the second floor of Lifeline's Clinic seems a bit dull when compared to the other areas of the POI. The small area only contains three loot bins and a respawn beacon, making it a death sentence for those who get unlucky with the randomized loot.

While the back of Lifeline's Clinic may seem uninteresting at first, there are two main draws. An interactive panel at the back of the clinic drops a single care package to loot. While it currently emits a tan-colored light like regular care packages, in reality it is a Lifeline care package that upgrades the gear of the squad that opens it. This means players should temper their enthusiasm, because the chances of getting a red-tier weapon like a Kraber or a Mastiff are zero. Finally, the lounge in the basement houses two loot orbs that cycle through blue, purple, and gold colors. Shooting the orb drops at least one piece of loot that corresponds with the color, giving players at least two chances for high-tier loot. The care package area has loot bins to complement its drops, while the basement lounge has ground loot to help players round out their arsenal.

No matter what round of the match a player finds themselves in, anyone on the northeastern side of Olympus should take the time to pass by Lifeline's Clinic. While it isn't the most interesting place for a fight, the simple layout and high possibility for good loot make it difficult to pass up. Olympus may not have been the best map for a new town takeover (not while there is still a lot of work to be done on Storm Point), but it fits with Lifeline's connection to the planet and her desire to help those in need.
