It's not particularly strange to see a game as fluid and ever-changing as Apex Legends leaking like a sieve. Whether it's through unofficial channels such as data miners, or through some accidental reveal that happens purely by happenstance, the game's upcoming content often gets spoiled well ahead of its release.

Something similar may well be happening just now, in fact, with Apex Legends' rumored Gun Game mode. This limited-time mode (LTM) seems to be making its way into the game according to dataminer HYPERMYST, who just posted some interesting voice lines from the alleged Gun Game announcer.

HYPERMIST, who is responsible for a very wide variety of previous Apex Legends datamines, didn't mince any words about this particular leak. They claim that the voice lines in question, which talk about a team's progression through the match via point tallying, are sourced from an upcoming limited-time game mode that's been inspired by Call of Duty's Gun Game. Here, players upgrade their weapons from one tier to another by taking down foes, but Apex Legends' supposed upcoming iteration of the mode has a special twist on the core mode formula, by the looks of it.

Namely, Apex Legends' Gun Game may be a team effort. Whereas the mode is a solo endeavor in most of its iterations, HYPERMIST's datamine suggests that players will be joining forces to score points, instead. Presumably, this means that the whole team's arsenal upgrades as they progress, which may well lead to even more hate for Apex Legends' detested Charge Rifle, if it ends up being included in the gun roster.

It goes without saying that Respawn Entertainment hasn't come out to confirm that there's a Gun Game LTM coming in the future. The studio's got its own fires to put out at this time, as Apex Legends characters are getting wrong abilities completely at random, making Season 14 one of the more buggy times to be enjoying the popular Battle Royale title. It is likely that Gun Game, which may not even be titled as such in the end, may not be coming out all that soon, all things considered.

Having said that, the availability of a proper Gun Game mode - LTM or not - may result in Respawn Entertainment balancing some of the game's weapons more carefully. One may argue that this is precisely what's happening with Apex Legends' changes to the Wingman hand cannon, which sound strange in a vacuum. Still, it remains to be seen what, exactly, comes of this particular datamine, and whether the alleged Gun Game LTM is coming anytime soon.

Apex Legends is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
