Since it is the holiday season, that means many people have time off to play Apex Legends or have even gotten a new system to play it on. This uptick in players means an uptick in new discoveries in the game. Some are more bugs than features, like the infinite slide exploit on PC that was discovered a few days ago. Now someone shared a trick the other day that helps deal with those pesky knockdown shields.

While this Apex Legends trick shared on the ApexUniversity subreddit isn’t necessarily new, it must have been useful to many, as the post has garnered almost 2,000 upvotes and nearly 90 comments. After knocking an enemy, instead of destroying the enemy’s knockdown shield or trying to work around it, poster bert4925 suggests entering into a finisher on the enemy before immediately canceling it. Most players when having a finisher done to them will let set the controller down or release the shield button, giving an opportunity for the other player to quickly shoot an unshielded enemy.

The replies seem to be very appreciative of this tip, with many commenting that they cannot believe they had never thought to do this themselves. One commenter reminded everyone though that if knocked, one should never release their shield button until a finisher has reached a point where it is no longer cancellable, to avoid this happening to them.

Another thing that was discovered in Apex Legends this week was what happens when one tries to fit one of the new trident vehicles in somewhere where it doesn’t belong. Trying to fit the new Season 7 vehicle into a doorway of a building while running over a teammate launched the teammate into the stratosphere, with no way back down. According to the poster, this event caused the game to crash for them and their team.

In terms of other discoveries that have been made regarding Apex Legends, a video of the next event was discovered when a promoted tweet was discovered on Twitter. The new collection event will feature a boxing ring town takeover on Olympus for everyone’s favorite smiling robot, Pathfinder. The event will also include some stylish new skins, including a special one for Pathfinder that will feature a unique animation on the legend select screen.

In conjunction with this new Pathfinder-centric content will be a new “Stories from the Outlands” video about him and the hunt for his creator. The new trailer is set to go live sometime on Tuesday, December 29, according to an official page that appears to have posted prematurely also.

Apex Legends is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, with mobile and Switch versions in development.
