Apex Legends has had a rough couple of months; the game has been plagued with bugs that range from annoying to game-breaking alongside the ongoing controversy around removing tap-strafing. Whule Apex Legends bugs can be interesting and fun, they can also completely ruin the game for more competitive players. One recent video of a ranked match demonstrates an extreme case.

A popular battle royale from EA and Respawn, Apex Legends sees players dive headfirst into the Apex Games, a competitive trial by combat. Recently, though, many issues have left the game various degrees of broken, with issues including hackers and mysterious third parties seizing control of other Respawn games. Fortunately, the latest issue is a bit less scary, though it is very odd.

Reddit user Victorique- posted a recording of a ranked match beginning, where the team exits the dropship only to see the massive ocean skybox below. When the team hits the invisible "ground," they immediately begin looking for weapons but are unable to see any. Quickly adapting, they begin using the only attacks available, punching and kicking an enemy squad that had dropped close by. While the clip provides a clear view of the skybox, it demonstrates an issue that completely ruins the competitive viability of ranked matches in Apex Legends.

Visual and gameplay bugs are becoming increasingly common, but they are not the only issues with the game. Recently, Apex Legends players have been suffering frequent disconnects, interrupting the experience for many. Respawn has addressed some of the issues affecting the game, but players may have to wait a while for them to be fully fixed.

Respawn has shown a major commitment to balancing and keeping an even playing field in Apex Legends, but all the talk in the world will not solve the major issues affecting the game right now. While some matches may work without issue, the game-breaking bugs players are encountering recently are becoming a widespread problem and destroying the game's reputation.

The issues with Apex Legends come alongside long-running problems with the older Titanfall games, which are set in the same universe and have direct connections to Apex. The revelation that the Titanfall hacks are connected to a huge conspiracy within the community came to light recently, and Respawn is being dragged deeper into a web of issues that it is struggling to address. Leaving issues for this long, whether they be an invisible map or constant disconnects, could seriouslly hurt the playerbase and the company in the end.

Apex Legends is available for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
