Horizon was added to Apex last year in Season 7. The legend is certainly unique, with abilities that support a fast-paced gameplay style. Many in the community assumed a nerf was imminent because of how many players were winning matches with the character.

While Horizon is one of the best legends in the game, players will need to utilize her abilities correctly to have success. Horizon is the best movement character in the game, which is why a fair amount of top-level players use her. This article will cover all of Horizon's abilities and how to take advantage of them in-game.

Passive Ability: Spacewalk

Horizon's Spacewalk may be the best passive ability in Apex. The ability allows horizon to avoid the fall fatigue that other characters have to deal with. Fall fatigue refers to the movement penalty when players jump from high locations. Every other character is prevented from moving for a second after a long fall before they can activate sprint. Horizon does not have the penalty, and she can slide away from any fall.

The best way for gamers to utilize ability is by abusing the terrain movement bonus. Players can jump from high areas onto a sloped surface and slide forever. By combining multiple jumps and slides, gamers can traverse the map faster than any other character. The passive ability makes Horizon's tactical and ultimate abilities better as well.

Tactical Ability: Gravity Lift

Gravity lift propels Horizon high into the air. Once at the top of the lift, Horizon players can control their exit direction. The legend's tactical ability has a number of different uses. Gamers can use it to get a different angle on opposing teams. Gravity Lift is also useful when enemy players have a height advantage. The most effective method is to use the lift while healing. Horizon can initiate the lift and fly up while using a shield battery. On the way down, gamers can use her passive ability to slide away. High-level players use the technique all the time to pull off a quick heal before re-entering a gunfight. Players should get in the habit of always using the ability after taking damage.

Horizon's tactical ability can be used by gamers in a variety of ways and it has an extremely fast cooldown time. Apex gamers can extend the ability by using a gold helmet or by entering the lift just before it disappears. Horizon's lift will stay active for 12 seconds, and using it before the 12 seconds elapses will keep it active for two additional seconds. Another effective use of the lift is in doorways and hallways. Gamers can throw the lift on a door to prevent enemy players from entering and obstruct their view. The last way players should be using the ability is to survey and gather information. Identifying enemy players will help Horizon mains to gauge when and where they should use their ultimate ability, Black Hole.

Ultimate: Black Hole

Apex Legends Horizon Black Hole

Horizon's ultimate ability creates a miniature black hole that pulls players toward it. In reality, it is more similar to a tornado than a black hole, as black holes consume all matter. Astrophysics aside, the ultimate can be extremely useful against opposing teams that are within the ability's area of effect. The Black Hole will seize opposing legends by pulling them into the sphere. The area of effect created by the Black Hole is not that big, so gamers will have to be accurate with their throw.

A common way Apex players use the ability is to activate the lift first, then use it to identify where enemy players are. This tactic will give gamers a birds-eye view of enemy teams. Players can then analyze enemy movement and predict where they will rotate to. Because the area of effect is small, players can throw arc stars around it to make sure that they are doing some damage to the enemy team. Legends can use grenades as well, but arc stars have a much faster detonation.

If opposing players are holding a door, the Black Hole can be used to pull the player away from the door by throwing it outside of the building. Camping players will be pulled toward the center of the hole, and gamers will know their exact location. A similar use for the ultimate is when there are players that have to rotate into the zone. Blocking rotating players with the hole will cause panic, and the opposing legends will be easy targets. Few players know that the Black Hole can be used as a shield as well. Horizon's Black Hole absorbs 220 damage before it is destroyed. When caught in a tricky situation, Horizon mains can use the ultimate as both cover and a shield.
