Apex Legends players who have been keeping up with Season 4 news should know about the return of Kings Canyon. As the in-game map from launch until Season 2, many fans have fond memories of learning to play, mastering different legends, and achieving victory. Kings Canyon is available in all of its original, restored glory until February 24th, and a small easter egg for a popular urban legend also makes its return.

Nessy is a small, in-universe reference to the Loch Ness monster of myth that has appeared consistently throughout the Titanfall series, also developed by Apex Legends studio Respawn Entertainment. After Apex Legends was released, Nessy would find its way into the battle royale in the form of 10 dolls, hidden by the Wattson, that are spread throughout Kings Canyon. With the original map's brief return, players can once again find these dolls to trigger the appearance of a giant Nessy.

Teaming Up

The Nessy dolls must be found and shot in a certain order to summon the real Nessy from the waters. On a side note, the dolls cannot be hit by melee attacks. To accomplish this task, 3-man teams will have to split up individually to cover each corner of the map: northwest, northeast, and south respectively. Each player will have to move and communicate quickly because the constantly constricting border of the map will make some dolls inaccessible with time.

Nessy Doll Locations

Once everyone is in place, the dolls need to be triggered in this order:

  1. Northwest - Northeast of Cascades
  2. South - At the eastern side of Skull Town
  3. Northwest - The western edge of Slum Lakes
  4. Northeast - To the west of Relay and northwest of Bunker
  5. South - In the center of Water Treatment
  6. Northwest - The eastern edge of Runoff
  7. Northeast - East of Wetlands near the coast
  8. Northeast - East of Hydro Dam and southwest of Swamps
  9. Northwest - Southeast of Bunker and far northwest of Market
  10. Northeast - East of Swamps at the coast

On YouTube, user The Gaming Merchant has uploaded a video that details each doll's location and the overall process.

Summoning Nessy

After triggering a doll, there will be a "A Nessy Appears" popup in the upper-right kill feed. Once all ten Nessy dolls are shot, "A Nessy Surfaces!" will appear in the feed and a giant Nessy will spawn in the distance.

Because of the teamwork required and non-cooperation of enemy players, it may take several matches to successfully summon the beast. But in the end, the giant Nessy is a fun reference like Revenant's Naruto easter egg and since Kings' Canyon is leaving non-ranked play soon, anyone that still wants to see Nessy should begin looking.

Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
