The battle royale genre has become increasingly popular in recent years, particularly with the release of titles like Fortnite and Apex Legends. Many titles in the genre appear to be drawing inspiration from each other's mechanics. Now, one Apex Legends player has suggested that the game add a new feature inspired by Fortnite.

Fortnite players have been able to pick up downed teammates and haul them to safety since the first season of Chapter 2, and Redditor fortniteplayerGG has drawn what they think it would like if the cast of Apex Legends were able to do the same. The result is a series of surprisingly detailed sketches showing how the characters' personalities might impact the way they carry a teammate.

Although the image addresses how a total of 18 Apex Legends characters would interact with the feature, it specifically shows five different possible carrying positions. The list begins with the "Your coming with me" position, which would see Revenant and Caustic dragging a downed teammate by the leg, and the "Equipment Chair," which would show Wattson, Rampart, Horizon, Lifeline, and possibly Fuse carrying a teammate seated on top of their respective gear. Next is the "Piggy Back," which fortniteplayerGG sees Loba, Crypto, Octane, Wraith, Mirage, and Seer using, as well as the "Over the Shoulder" fireman carry, which would be used by Bangalore, Bloodhound, Pathfinder, and possibly Fuse. Lastly comes the "Cradle" position, which is reserved for Apex Legends' powerhouse Legend Gibraltar.

It appears that other Apex Legends fans are generally in favor of the proposed new feature, though there have been some concerns raised about the specific choices of carrying positions for each character. Several responses to the original post argue that Fuse should also carry downed teammates by cradling them to his chest, particularly when carrying them away from an explosion he caused. Although some Apex Legends fans have called for an Operation Health-style season-long break to improve existing features, interest in this new feature is notable.

As of writing, it seems that some fans have a few qualms about this function, particularly how it would apply to Revenant and Gibraltar. Revenant, one of Apex Legends' most amoral characters, has previously threatened to use other characters as meat shields, while Gibraltar's sheer size leads users to wonder how smaller champions like Mirage or Octane would manage to lift him off the ground. One user also suggested that Pathfinder should be able to grapple teammates and pull them out of harm's way, which might avoid similar pitfalls.

Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
