The Fight or Fright Halloween event is returning to Apex Legends this year with a few twists. Last year, the Fight or Fright event featured a limited-time Shadowfall mode. Shadowfall coincided with the release of the Season 4 legend Revenant, and granted fallen players abilities similar to Revenant's Death Totem. Now, this year's Fight or Fright event will have a similar LTM with a new members revealed in the trailer.

The Apex Legends Halloween event launches October 22 and adds new skins, the Shadow Royale LTM, and some spooky changes to King's Canyon. The Shadow Royale LTM will work a little like the previous Shadowfall mode, where fallen players return to the battle as Shadows. This year, Shadows have even more abilities including faster movement, long-range melees, and wall running.

Teamwork will also be important, as Shadows can revive their downed teammate and every member is eliminated if the last living teammate dies. The main complaint about the previous year's Shadowfall mode is that it did not require much teamwork, but the new Shadow Royale mode looks to amend that with the improved Shadow abilities and the introduction of a new NPC.

The Shadow Royale mode leaked last month, but had mysterious placeholder names for a file called "Shadow Pets." The Apex Legends Fight or Fright trailer has confirmed that Prowlers will play a part in the Halloween festivities. Based on the trailer Shadow Prowlers are returning, much like the Season 5 Broken Ghost Quest, and will become pets for some teams. The post reads: "Revenant is running a shelter for abandoned hell-beasts, and you might just end up adopting one to help you win the match."

There will be much more to look out for in the new Shadow Royale LTM. Apart from other teams, Shadows, and Shadow Prowlers, players will have to endure Revenant's chilling narration and a few returning jump scares. Throughout King's Canyon, there are creepy changes like glowing Leviathans, candles throughout buildings, and the return of loot bin spiders and zombies.

The Fight or Fright event will also bring back last year's Halloween skins with color variations. The Halloween costume skins will be available in bundles, with the first week featuring skins for Bloodhound, Caustic, Crypto, Lifeline, and Loba. The second week of the event will feature Halloween skins for Bangalore, Gibraltar, Revenant, Wattson, and Wraith. Players can jump into the action on October 22 to play the Shadow Royale mode, buy skins, and earn rewards from the Halloween prize track.

Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Switch version currently in development.
