Apex Legends thrives on continual updates from its developer, Respawn Entertainment. Players have come to expect a new season every few months to shake up the battle royale's meta, add a new legend, a new weapon, and maybe even mix up one of the game's maps. Apex Legends has found a lot of success this way, as the game has continued to grow in size and popularity over the years since its release. Now, the game has received its tenth season since its release, titled Emergence, that brings even more new content to the game for fans to check out.

The new season was originally revealed at last month's EA Play Live event. In a short animation, fans were given a brief look at the new legend, Seer, in an animated short that showed them killing some of Apex Legends' biggest characters while waxing poetic about change. The animation was followed up by a developer discussing some of Seer's abilities, but players did not get a clear picture of how the character would play and fit into the game's meta until now.

Apex Legends' New Legend Seer

apex legends new legend seer emergence gameplay trailer

Seer is a recon legend that the developers have compared to Apex Legends' Bloodhound or Crypto. Of course, this means that Seer can take advantage of the Recon class passive that allows him to scan survey beacons and reveal the location of the next circle for his squad. Seer's passive is one of his strongest aspects, as Heart Seeker allows him to visualize and hear enemy heartbeats while aiming down the sights of any weapon, or even without a weapon. This ability is incredibly strong, and lets players get the drop on enemy squads through walls, smoke, or any other obstructions. Heart Seeker will likely be a massive part of Seer's meta, although players will have to communicate enemy locations to their squad to take full advantage of it.

Seer's tactical ability is where the character's hive of microdrones first make an appearance. Dubbed Focus of Attention, Seer is able to have his drones blast out a wave of enemy-detecting energy after a slight delay. Any enemies hit by the blast have their actions interrupted, while also revealing their locations and their health bars to Seer for a short period of time.

Ahead of his release, Seer's ultimate was what caught the eyes of many Apex Legends players. His ultimate is called Exhibit, and allows players to create a large sphere with his microdrones. While enemies are within the sphere, they are revealed to Seer as long as they move quickly or fire their weapons. The ultimate has a lot of potential in swaying close-quarters encounters, and will likely become a staple for many squads as games approach their final circles.

Apex Legends Season 10: New Weapon and Content

apex legends rampage

The new season brings with it Apex Legends' newest LMG, the Rampage. The Rampage is definitely looking to shake up Apex Legends' weapon meta. The gun uses heavy ammo and excels at medium-range combat thanks to its slower fire rate that takes a bit to build up, but keeps the gun much more accurate over distance. However, the gun's most interesting feature is that it allows players to load a thermite grenade into a chamber of the gun to overclock it and seriously boost its fire rate. Players will most likely want to utilize the Rampage's overclock feature when they find themselves in close-ranged encounters, which helps the gun be a solid choice for nearly every loadout.

Another addition coming with Season 10 is the new Ranked Arenas. Arenas are the newest game mode in Apex Legends that sought to take the game beyond battle royale. The mode plays similarly to a game of Counter-Strike, that sees two squads of three purchasing gear at the start of each round before fighting it out with only one life each.

Now, in Season 10, players can jump into Ranked Arenas to try and climb the competitive ladder. Players jumping in for the first time will first have to complete 10 placement matches to get their initial MMR, so placement matches may swing drastically one way or the other until players get properly placed. The new ranked mode is definitely exciting for fans of Arenas, however, and many members of the community have expressed their excitement at the potential influence of Ranked Arenas on Apex Legends Esports.

Apex Legends Season 10: Map Changes

Season 10 also brings a massive update for Apex Legends' World's End map that sees scientists battling with waves of lava that threaten to destroy the entire map. One of the impacted areas of the map is Refinery, which has been replaced by a new area known as Climatizer. The area is covered in snow while a river of lava still cuts through it as a dangerous hazard. The area has been modified as Hammond tries to battle the lava with cooling equipment, which clearly led to the area's new wintery look.

The developers spoke about how the area was designed to attract more teams to the northern side of the map, so Climatizer is designed to support fights between multiple teams with a big loot pool to match. The river of lava also flows further down the map, which connecting Climatizer to Fissure while also being a massive player-damaging hazard. Of course, those are far from the only changes to World's End in Apex Legends Season 10.

There are a handful of other locations that got revamped for the season, but one of the map's biggest new additions is its Gondolas. Gondolas are intended to serve a similar purpose as the map's trains did in previous seasons, and run from Climatizer to Lava Siphon to give squads a save traversal option. A more aesthetic change comes in the map's new skybox and visual change that focus on enhancing the contrast of the cold and warm areas of the map. This features a new blue color theme with tall storm clouds on half the map and a raging orange storm on the other half.

Of course, the season also brings a bevy of balance changes and tweaks, so now is the perfect time for new and returning players to jump into the game and start grinding out Apex Legends' new Season 10 Battle Pass.

Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
