With Apex Legends reaching the end of Season 8, another end-of-season easter egg mystery has appeared in the game for players to solve. The easter egg involves finding Holo-Sprays around Olympus and Kings Canyon to decrypt a passcode and then delivering the passcode to the firing range.

So far, two trailers for Season 9 of Apex Legends have been released with both of them showing off a few of the new things coming to the game soon. Notably, the new Legend Valkyrie has been revealed and is the daughter of Apex Predator mercenary and Titanfall 2 boss, Viper.

Apex Legends players should definitely see this easter egg through to the end as it provides an interesting teaser into what is to come in Apex Legends. Before getting started, it is highly recommended that players pick any high mobility Legend, such as Octane, to get across the maps quickly. Players attempting to do this easter egg solo should do so in the Duos playlist with Squad Fill turned off so as not to throw the match for any squadmates.

Getting the Corrupted Keycard:

To begin the mystery, Apex Legends players will need to find a care package – Lifeline packages do not count – and open it. Each compartment should drop a small device called a ‘Corrupted Keycard’ to get the easter egg started. Every care package will drop keycards, so if players stumble upon a previously opened care package, it is still worth checking the ground around it for keycards.

Once players get back to the lobby, they will need to find the keycard that can now be found at the bottom of the screen. Clicking on it will cause some dialogue to start playing and the player will eventually be given some challenges to decrypt the passcode.

The challenges require players to scan three different Holo-Sprays on Olympus and Kings Canyon. The Holo-Sprays that players are looking for are orange rings with an inverted Apex Games logo in the middle. There are lots of these holograms scattered around the two maps, but players only need to scan six in total.

Scanning Holo-Sprays on Olympus:

To scan a Holo-Spray, players just need to get close to it and follow the button prompt. Players will know it has been scanned as their Legend will pull out a small device which briefly flashes the percentage progress of decrypting the passcode.

Courtesy of the Apex Legends Fandom Wiki, these are all the possible locations for the Holo-Sprays on Olympus:

  • Top of the center building at Autumn Estates.
  • In the middle of the Arcadia Supercarrier, located on a suspended beam.
  • On top of a wall in Central Turbine going to Hammond Labs.
  • On the roof of Hammond Labs.
  • Behind the central suspended structure on Orbital Cannon Test Site.
  • Under a bridge in the center of Hydroponics.
  • Northeast of Elysium.
  • Under the bridge between Orbital Cannon Test Site and Bonsai Plaza.
  • On top of a building on the west side of Rift Aftermath.
  • In the northwesternmost building at Bonsai Plaza.
  • In the north building at Velvet Oasis.
  • Inside a building at Energy Depot, near Hammond Labs.
  • Easternmost part of the map, east of Golden Gardens.
  • Inside the middle tower at Grow Towers.
  • Northernmost side of the map, just north of Power Grid.

When looking for the holograms on Olympus, players should also use the Tridents to get around as quickly as possible. One good area to find the holograms is the southwest corner where Hydroponics and Elysium are. There is one hologram under a bridge and near a small water stream in Hydroponics.

Another around some containers northeast of Elysium. It is also near where the Trident spawns in that area.

  • Top of Crash Site.
  • Roof of the large structure near the mountainside outside Singh Labs.
  • Under the entrance of the large structure at the north side of Offshore Rig.
  • Inside the secret lab at Caustic Treatment.
  • Under a building on the north side of Creature Containment.
  • East side of Swampsnear the edge of the map.
  • West side of Runoff.
  • Top of Skull Salvage.
  • At a building south of Watchtower South.
  • Inside The Pit, on the north side.
  • On the outside of the large bunker at Hydro Dam.
  • In an open space south of Artillery Battery.
  • On top of the large wall on the south side of Artillery Battery.
  • North side of Airbase.
  • West side of Spotted Lake, near the X-shaped building.

One good area for finding the holograms quickly is Artillery and the surrounding areas. There is one hologram on the left tower of the south wall in Artillery.

Another one can be found directly south of the last one wedged between a tree trunk and the cliff wall.

Once players have scanned any three Holo-Sprays on both maps, players will have another new challenge waiting for them when they get back to the lobby.

Entering the Passcode in the Firing Range:

For the final challenge, players need to head to the firing range alone and input the passcode. Once players load into the firing range, they should head down the hill and towards the landing pad that is near all the shooting targets. There is a panel on the pad that players need to activate.

A dropship will fly into the area and hover near the pad once the panel has been activated. Players should walk up to the dropship to embark and they will then be quickly flown to a new location. Without spoiling the rest, players just need to head through a tunnel and activate another panel to reach the finale of the easter egg. Horizon players will also get slightly different dialogue during the finale. Once players are returned to the lobby, they will get an exclusive badge as a reward.
