Apex Legends season 2 is well underway, and most players have learned by now how to deal with Wattson's fences. However, it seems that the Apex Legends metagame is looking at another shake-up because developer Respawn Entertainment appears to be teasing the addition of a second legend for season 2. The rumors of new legend "Crypto" joining the roster in season 2 have been circulating for a while now, but it seems as if Respawn is getting ready to take the next step.

For context, images of Crypto leaked online some time ago, with the legend also appearing at the beginning of the season 2 Battle Charge trailer. He is partially responsible for the season 2 map changes, so it makes sense for him to join soon. This much was seemingly teased by Respawn developer Tina Sanchez who posted some behind-the-scenes pictures of Apex Legends on Twitter.

It's entirely within the realm of possibility that these images are just Sanchez working on emotes or other aspects of the game, but the addition of Crypto seems much more likely, especially given her response when asked about the character. One Apex Legends fan commented on the photo, simply asking "Crypto?", to which Sanchez responded with a mouthless emoji.

The timing of the tease is also peculiar, as the CEO of publisher Electronic Arts, Andrew Wilson, recently teased a new event coming to Apex Legends soon that somehow ties in with an often asked-for feature. What that exactly is remains to be seen, but it wouldn't be surprising to see Crypto somehow tied into this event. Lore-wise, it would also be interesting to see more of the dynamic between Crypto and Wattson, as the latter helped build the ring and the former clearly has something against it.

As far as Crypto is concerned, very little is known about the Apex Legends character. Based on the aforementioned trailer, it appears he may have some type of EMP ability, and based on other leaks, it appears that he may carry a sword. Beyond these teases, it's worth adding that Crypto appears on the same Apex Legends character roster leak as Octane and Wattson, so everything seems to be set to bring Crypto into the Apex Games.

Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
