Apex Legends, the popular battle royale, will soon support cross-play and many are wondering how it will change gameplay. Software engineer for Respawn Entertainment Jake Smullin posted a video explaining how cross-play will work when it comes to Apex Legends this fall.

Cross-play will enable players across PC and all consoles to play together and when in terms of shooter games, PC players usually have an advantage. Smullin clarified that console players would not have much to worry about, writing in his post, "You will only be in PC cross-play lobbies if you have a PC player on your team."

The valuable information Smullin shares means that a full team of console players will be in lobbies with other console players. Apex Legends is about to enter Season 6, so there will most likely be even more gameplay changes on top of cross-play.

The structure of cross-play will balance gameplay a little more and alleviate any worry from console players about being at a disadvantage. Apex Legends will also release on Nintendo Switch and Steam in the fall, so it will add another console to cross-play and give PC players another way to download the free-to-play game.

PC players can also claim exclusive weapon charms if they download Apex Legends on Steam when it releases. The charms all feature popular objects from Valve games and will only be available for a limited time. As fall approaches, players will have even more ways to play Apex Legends, and will have the freedom to play with friends across all platforms.

Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and will release on Nintendo Switch and Steam in the fall.
