Season 6 is fast approaching for players of the battle royale game Apex Legends on August 18. In addition to Rampart, a new hero wielding a mini-gun named Sheila, the season promises an opportunity to add new content to the game like new weapons or modes. While some are obsessing over the Volt SMG coming this season, others have noticed new screenshots floating around online that may hint at a future weapon coming to the game.

The team behind Apex Legends has taught its players that not everything is as cut and dry as things appear. Over the past couple weeks, players have been completing the Broken Ghost questline, which led to the rebuilding of Titanfall 2 antagonist Ash, as well as a tease about a new map called Olympus. This led many players to the theory that Ash and Olympus would be coming to the game as part of Season 6, however, the trailer for the new season doesn't mention either of them.

With that information in mind, players may need to take this news with a grain of salt, as new Apex Legends screenshots have begun to circulate online where a compound bow can be seen as a lootable weapon. These screenshots are from artist Austin Arnett, who had shared the images on Imgur to showcase the art he had done for the room. It seems like he just had some bad luck that the bow was there.

According to a datamine back in June from Twitter user @shrugtal, a new ammo type was going to be coming to Apex Legends that appeared to be arrow-based. At that time, they suggested that it would be coming for one of the game's limited-time modes (LTM) however that never seemed to come to pass.

Shrugtal has proven themselves to be an extremely accurate source of information for Apex Legends. On their Twitter, they have been known to share tons of information for the game, even showing players things that could be coming in the far future, like when they leaked information about Steam exclusive cosmetics coming to the game.

While some players might be disappointed if the compound bow comes only as part of an LTM, that doesn't mean it won't be seen in the regular battle royale mode. The LTM Armed and Dangerous Evolved introduced players to the mobile respawn beacon, and after seeing a surge in popularity, was promoted to the regular and competitive play. So while a compound bow may come in a limited fashion, it may be best if players start practicing their accuracy.

Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Switch version coming later this year.
