Respawn Entertainment's battle royale Apex Legends will be launching its next season of content on August 18. The developers released a fun Apex Legends Season 6 trailer with newcomer Rampart that depicted various characters taking part in a huge gunfight, but fans have latched onto on moment with the defensive Legend Caustic for what they believe to be a hint at his heirloom being added into the game.

For those who have not played the popular battle royale, heirloom drops are the rarest collectibles in Apex Legends and have thus far been released for six characters: Wraith, Bloodhound, Lifeline, Pathfinder, Octane, and Mirage. Each set includes a unique pose, weapon skin, and quip, and there is a less than one percent chance any individual item will appear in an Apex Pack, making them more rare than even Legendary cosmetics.

The Season 6 trailer has a moment where Caustic beats Pathfinder with a toxic gas canister, which has led to many posts on Reddit and other social media sites questioning whether the canister is a hint about the Legend getting his heirloom set this season. There have been teases regarding what the next season in Apex Legends will include, but it's currently unclear if Caustic will have time in the spotlight.

Though many are under the impression that Caustic will be getting his heirloom based on this scene in the trailer, others have pointed out that the canister is already visible on the character's official art and model. Apex Legends characters have lots of extraneous details not typically utilized, like Caustic's face being hidden under his mask, so it wouldn't be unusual for Respawn to use those elements for purely cinematic purposes.

Even if Caustic is not given extra attention this season, there are other Legends who may be headlining content alongside the new character Rampart. For instance, a social media post recently teased Apex Legends may dive into Bangalore's backstory through a "Stories from the Outlands" event.

That being said, Caustic has been part of Apex Legends since the beginning as one of the first characters players can unlock, so it would make sense for Respawn to give him more attention. Electronic Arts had record sales gains for the June quarter in-part because of Apex Legends, which had its highest levels of player engagement since launch during Season 5 amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Apex Legends is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It will release on Nintendo Switch and Steam later this year.
