Apex Legends fans got plenty to look forward to at today's digital EA Play event, during which game director Chad Grenier announced the Lost Treasures Collection Event starting on June 23. While the trailer released for the event focuses primarily on a Legend named Crypto, there is a particularly interesting development shown off for the support character Lifeline.

About a minute into the trailer, Respawn Entertainment shows off Lifeline running into battle to back up the Legend Bangalore, who has been downed in a firefight. While Lifeline continues to fight, her healing drone stays behind and offers Bangalore a rope to pick her up, marking the first time Apex Legends players have seen the robotic companion doing anything of the sort.

With the Lost Treasures event confirmed to be adding new limited-time skins, as well as mechanics like mobile respawn beacons courtesy of the developer's Vancouver studio, there's currently no telling how many changes will be made to the popular battle royale as updates begin to roll around for the rest of Season 5. The official event page posted by EA primarily focuses on cosmetics, so players will have to wait to find out more.

Another big announcement made during the EA Play event is that Apex Legends is being ported to Steam and Switch, and will be getting cross-play between its different platforms. These developments, coupled with upcoming events like Lost Treasures, should keep the game active for some time to come.

Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
