There have been a ton of incredible (and lackluster) Legendary skins released since the launch of Apex Legends. Legendary skins are the rarest and most expensive type (Respawn has commented on the pricey nature of some skins) in the game. In terms of design, they differ dramatically from original skins. From holiday skins to the robotic or medieval, there's an incredible variety of themes to choose from.

But which Legendary skins are the best, thematically and aesthetically? Which ones are players wishing they'd picked up seasons ago? There's a unique and creative skin for every taste, but some rise to the very top.

10 Mirage's Old Town Skin: Toy Story Nostalgia

Old Town Mirage Legendary Skin Apex Legends gold background

Released during the 2019 Fright or Fight event, Old Town Mirage brings some western flair to the character. In 2019, this skin cost 1,800 Apex Coins or 2,400 crafting materials. Presumably, this is the tricky, foe-bamboozling Mirage's Halloween costume. He wears a cow print vest, chaps, bandana, cowboy hat and a shiny Sheriff's badge. Considering Mirage's original skin also has him wearing chaps, turning him into a Wild West cowboy is a perfect fit.

In this skin, Mirage looks like he's just walked off the set of Toy Story. It's also enough of a departure from Mirage's typical jumpsuit that it feels worth the unlock. Despite its comedic appeal, players won't see Old Town in many lobbies. Old Town Mirage was brought back for the 2020 Fright or Fight event, costing 1,260 Apex Coins. Compared to the price of some other Legendary skins, Old Town Mirage is a steal.

9 Caustic's Sweet Dreams Skin: A Pennywise Recolor

Sweet Dreams Caustic Apex Legends

This Legendary skin for the rather underrated Caustic is actually a recolor of his unforgettable clown skin, The Last Laugh. Caustic's Sweet Dreams skin, however, offers a darker, more realistic take on the kind of outfit an evil scientist would wear if he was also a clown hiding out in a sewer. This skin was released as a part of the Dark Humor bundle during the 2020 Fight or Fright Halloween Event, costing 4,000 Apex Coins.

This skin boasts incredible detail, from the pumpkin buttons on the shirt to the ruffled collar and creepy toy canisters of noxious gas. Overall, this skin is more practical to wear on the battlefield than The Last Laugh, which is bright white and boasts a pinstripe pattern. As far as realism goes, Sweet Dreams takes the cake for the best creepy skin that Caustic would actually wear.

8 Wraith's Protector of the Void Skin: The Medieval Viking Queen

Protector of the Void Wraith Apex Legends

Wraith has some incredible Legendary skins, from the paleolithic vibes of Night Terror to the classical Marble Goddess. Protector of the Void combines the two, offering a skin that feels both Viking-inspired and goddess-like. She keeps her tough vibe, with blood smeared in an artful pattern across her face. Her hair is bright blonde and tied back in an elegant medieval style.

She's the shieldmaiden and rogue warrior fans never knew they needed. This skin is from the olden days of Apex Legends Season 2, released during the Iron Crown Event in 2019. It originally cost 1,800 Apex Coins, which is a steal considering the skin's unique armor build and theme. Sadly, the skin hasn't been seen since. Fans will only find it on die-hard players who have been maining Wraith since day one. Beginners, who perhaps joined the fight on Nintendo Switch, may never have seen this one.

7 Pathfinder's Iced Out Skin: Well, Technology Does Freeze A Lot

Iced Out Pathfinder Apex Legends World's Edge Thumb Up

Apex Legends has done a fantastic job with all of its ice-themed skins. The color palette of this Iced Out Pathfinder skin is perfect, and the texture on his body has depth and looks like real ice (albeit bright blue). Most of Pathfinder's skins do little to change the overall shape of his body, but this skin does, also adding sharp icicles on his shoulders, head and legs.

The downside to this skin is that it's so brightly colored foes will spot Pathfinder halfway across the map. Maybe this isn't the best skin if players want to blend in, unless they're trying to camp among the icicles at Epicenter on the beloved World's Edge map.

6 Horizon's Dark Matter Skin: An Edgy Robot Vampire

Dark Matter Horizon Skin Apex Legends

Perhaps the best Legendary Horizon skin, Dark Matter offers a sleek modern suit with an intimidating vampire vibe. It costs 1,200 crafting materials and has been available to unlock since Horizon's release in November 2020 at the start of Season 7.

If Raven from Teen Titans grew up and started hanging out in the Void with Wraith, this skin would probably be the result. The red, white and black color scheme is elegant and minimalist. The white suit contrasts perfectly with the angular black armor plates. Compared to Wraith's other skins, this one has a unique edge.

5 Revenant's Frost Ancient Skin: A Game of Thrones Whitewalker?

Frost Ancient Revenant Skin Apex Legends

Frost Ancient Revenant is another stellar ice-themed legendary skin. It was released as a part of the 2020 Holiday Spirit Bundle, which cost 2,500 Apex Coins. For fans of the Game of Thrones novels and television series on HBO, purchasing this skin was a no-brainer.

In this skin, Revenant has a mix of ice and tree-inspired accents. His feet are made of ice and his eyes are beyond spooky. In classic Revenant fashion, he looks like an angry skeleton, but this time he looks more in touch with nature. Frost Ancient is an incredible skin that stays true to Revenant's icy, evil personality while giving a nod to an iconic television series.

4 Wattson's Bionic Wonder Skin: Zero Suit Samus Meets Porcelain Robot

Bionic Wonder Wattson Skin Apex Legends

Bionic Wonder Wattson's face resembles a porcelain doll, but is also clearly robotic. This fits perfectly with Wattson's character, as she is a kind-hearted scientist with a childlike innocence. Her coat is geometric and high fashion. Her blue jumpsuit is reminiscent of Zero Suit Samus' attire. Overall, Bionic Wonder is an elevated sci-fi departure from Wattson's original skin.

In October 2019, Bionic Wonder was available for purchase in the Apex Legends Item Store for 10,500 Legend Tokens. The Legendary Cyber Security Wattson skin has to be unlocked in order to get Bionic Wonder. Cyber Security Wattson cost 1,800 Apex Coins or 1,200 Crafting Materials and, like Mirage's Old Town skin, has been unavailable in the store for long stretches of time.

3 Wattson's Cyber Punked Skin: Definitely A Fan-Favorite

Cyber Punked Wattson Skin Apex Legends

With its pink and black color scheme, Cyber Punked Wattson is one of the most-loved skins in Apex Legends. It's been redrawn and cosplayed numerous times and has been turned into stickers and prints by independent artists. Fans just can't get enough of this take on Wattson.

This skin's appeal is immediate. Wattson's original skin feels a bit plain. By comparison, Cyber Punked feels edgy and cool. The bright pink accent and adorable horns are great little additions. Her legs, eye patch and slick black coat all show a commitment to the darker cyberpunk theme. Overall, this skin is sure to make Wattson players stand out on the battlefield. It appeared in Season 4's battle pass.

2 Lifeline's From The Ashes Skin: The Volcanic Demon

From-the-Ashes-Lifeline-Skin-Apex-Legends

Lifeline has some otherworldly Legendary skins. Her volcanic-inspired From the Ashes skin is incredible. Released as a Season 3 Battle Pass exclusive, From the Ashes Lifeline was automatically unlocked at level 53. She looks like an ancient demonic goddess, with molten lava on her fingertips and veins of lava flowing across her torso. This skin is eye-catching with its high-contrast color scheme and formidable horns.

In fact, this skin is so beloved that it was recolored in red and rereleased as the Hellraiser skin for Season 8's Anniversary Collection Event. By itself, the legendary Hellraiser recolor cost 1,800 Apex Coins or 1,200 crafting materials.

1 Gibraltar's Brudda Bear Skin: The Cuddly Polar Bear

Brudda Bear Gibraltar Apex Legends

This Gibraltar skin is iconic. Everyone remembers their first time seeing a giant fuzzy bear running across the battlefield with an assault rifle gripped between its paws. Brudda Bear Gibraltar transforms the imposing tank character into a polar bear, a tough yet cuddly presence that matches Gibraltar's warm personality.

This skin was released in 2019 for the Holo-Day Bash Event and came back for the 2020 Holo-Day Bash Event. During the 2020 event, it cost 1,400 Apex Coins.
