Like many other games in and out of the battle royale genre, Apex Legends offers a battle pass system each season, with individual battle passes offering a variety of cosmetics and items upon completion. Historically, most of these cosmetics are gone for good once the battle pass is removed from the shop, but when Apex Legends Season 11 comes around, this could be set to change.

As Apex Legends leaker known as Garret pointed out in a recent video that the game's website has hinted that changes are coming to the battle pass system since Season 9. Apex Legends is now in Season 10, and the website's FAQ page has been updated again to change some very specific wording around older items.

Previously, it was stated a change to the battle pass would be arriving sometime in Season 10, bringing older cosmetics back either through events or through the item store. Now, the FAQ has been altered to state that this change will arrive in the upcoming Season 11 instead. This isn't the first time Apex Legends has delayed a new feature, but it does represent a potential shake-up to the Apex Legends player base, particularly those who would prefer battle pass items and cosmetics to remain rare.

According to the changes, event-limited items such as cosmetics from collection and themed events could also be making a return in a similar manner, which is an even bigger shift on Respawn's part. It's uncertain why these changes were announced, but they seem to imply that Apex Legends will be featuring more events in the future - possibly even Fortnite-level crossover events. This prolific free-to-play battle royale shooter is already doing very well for itself, but more events could potentially boost its popularity to even greater heights. However, there seem to be some mixed opinions from fans over whether rare skins should make a return.

As of writing, fans appear to be split on whether rare cosmetics returning is a good idea, with some - including leaker Garrett - expressing disappointment at this perceived loss of value. One user suggested that Respawn should bring back recolored versions of rare cosmetics instead so that the originals keep their rarity, but players who missed out on them can still get something similar. Another pointed out that it makes financial sense for Respawn to make older cosmetics available to new players. Whatever the case, Apex Legends already needs some serious tweaks, so a change to the battle pass system wouldn't be that surprising.

Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
