Respawn Entertainment is ready to launch the next chapter of Apex Legends. The developer has now confirmed the release date for Apex Legends Battle Pass Season 1, dubbed Wild Frontier, which will officially start on Tuesday, March 19. Season 1 will bring with it the launch of a new Legend named Octane as well as the highly anticipated first Apex Legends Battle Pass. While the Battle Pass will be premium, costing roughly $10, Apex Legends remains otherwise free to play and includes free content for Season 1 players without a Battle Pass, too.

Starting March 19, players can purchase the Apex Legends Season 1 Battle Pass in one of two forms: the standard Battle Pass and the Battle Pass Bundle. The standard pass will cost 950 Apex Coins (around $10) while the Battle Pass Bundle will cost 2,800 Apex Coins (about $30).

Both versions of the Season 1 Battle Pass include a full 100 levels for players to earn, with each level of experience unlocking a new item. Both passes also include a trio of Wild Frontier Legend skins: Lifeline Revolution, Wraith Survivor, and Mirage Outlaw. The difference is that the Battle Pass Bundle will unlock the first 25 levels of the Battle Pass instantly, giving buyers a head start and making it easier to reach the level 100 cap.

As implied, the Apex Legends Battle Pass' 100 levels are traversed through earning experience. Pick up the Battle Pass immediately and start earning items with every level, or wait until later and get rewarded items for all of the levels previously earned retroactively. Non-Battle Pass players can earn some loot, too, with 1 Wild Frontier Legend skin, 5 Apex Packs, and 18 Wild Frontier stat trackers available outside the pass.

Beyond Apex Legends' first Battle Pass, the game will also be launching a brand new Legend with the start of Season 1. Octane may not be a secret within the Apex Legends community, given the number of leaks regarding the character and his abilities, but more casual players will be unfamiliar with him. Octane is a speedster character whose Adrenaline Junky ability trades health for movement speed. The new Apex Legends character also wields a trusty Jump Pad for their Ultimate Ability. Respawn fans will be happy to know that Octane's mechanical legs come from an accident during a record-pace Gauntlet run from Titanfall 2.

March 19 marks the Apex Legends Season 1 start date, featuring both Octane and Apex Legends' first Battle Pass. Whether Respawn has any more plans in store for tomorrow's launch remains unclear, whether that be a new patch and balance changes or otherwise. Apex Legends players have been anxiously waiting for Season 1 for some time now.

Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
