Apex Legends is set in the Titanfall universe, and so far, the closest direct connection between the two games has been the inclusion of Ash from Titanfall 2 in Season 5 of Apex Legends. After her big reveal in the Broken Ghost quest, many players expected to see her inclusion as a Legend in Season 6. Season 8 of Apex Legends was recently launched, yet there is still no sign of Ash's arrival as a playable character.

It has been two full seasons since Ash was introduced in Apex Legends. Initially appearing in the Broken Ghost questline, players perform several missions to gather pieces of Ash's head before rejoining it with her body at the quest's finale. Her inclusion in these series of quests spawned rumors of her arrival as a playable Legend in Season 6, but Season 6 came and went, as did Season 7, and still no Ash as a playable character. With the release of Season 8 and Fuse's addition, it seems Ash still is not in the cards for players.

Who is Ash?

For those unfamiliar with Ash, she was first introduced as an antagonist in the single-player campaign for Titanfall 2. She is a Simulacrum, similar to Revenant, and completely lacks empathy, toying with her opponents and performing experiments on them. Cold, precise, and calculating, she adheres to a code of honor and is a woman of her word.

The Broken Ghost quests in Apex Legends Season 5 consisted of nine different hunts and a finale. Each of the nine hunts has players following Loba's instructions to gather pieces of Ash's head, with the final quest seeing players reunite the head with Ash's body. Once complete, Ash speaks the lines "Ashes-to-Ash. Ashes-to-Ash. Ashes-to-Ash. Ash... to Ashes. The path ends here. Welcome to Olympus."

This line of quests' payoff was a Titanfall fan's dream come true, teasing Ash as an upcoming playable Legend in Apex Legends. The cameo was one that was met with much excitement and speculation but never amounted to anything. Why include Ash in the first place if not to add her into the game? While it still may be possible for her to make an appearance, does it make sense for her to after so much time has passed? Many players are eager to play as the character, but others believe she does not fit well into Apex Legends' lore.

Where is Ash?

Apex Legends 10 Pro Tips For The New Season 7 Map, Olympus

The biggest question is, where is Ash? She mentions Olympus when reconstructed in Season 5, yet the Olympus map released in Apex Legends Season 7 with no sign of Ash in matches. She is seen in the comic storyline in-game where she is bunkered with Pathfinder as his "girlfriend," but she eventually leaves with Blisk. This may be setting up more to come, at least hopefully,  but her last known location is with Blisk on Olympus.

Toward the end of 2020, several videos revealed what looked to be animations for Ash and her sword block for Apex Legends, sparking rumors that Season 9 may finally be the one where players can get Ash. Ash can be seen with a sword in the Apex Legends comics, which occur after Season 5's story, but before Season 6. There has been no confirmation whether these "leaked" animations are, in fact, real or just recycled and altered player animations from Titanfall 2.

Apex Legends Season 9 and Beyond

Season 8 is still in its infancy, but players can be sure that Respawn is already working on Season 9. These things are generally planned fairly far ahead to allow for asset creation, development time, and testing. With Apex Legends seasons lasting around only 3 months, it is quite possible planning and development for Season 10 has already begun. The rumors of Ash being playing in Apex Legends are still alive and out there, though not as prevalent as they were at the end of Season 5. If she is not in the game by Season 10, it is probably safe to say she never will be at that point.

Apex Legends is available on the PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The Nintendo Switch version releases on March 9th, 2021.
