With the start of April Fools' Day, Apex Legends has released a one-day event to celebrate. Among a few fun changes, the event sees the return of Apex Legends' golden Mozambique from last year.

Apex Legends is Respawn Entertainment's popular fast-paced battle royale that drops 100 players onto a map in squads of three with no equipment, where they must loot guns and gear to battle it out until one squad remains. Apex Legends is frequently updated with new characters to play as, tweaks to gun balancing, new equipment to find, and larger changes to the map through seasonal events.

For April Fools' Day, Apex Legends has something a bit smaller in scale. Much like the event last year, a golden version of the Mozambique shotgun pistol will be added, this time joined by a new gold version of the P2020 pistol that will receive a damage buff up to 190 if the wielder is riding a zipline. To make sure as many players can get in on the fun as possible, spawn rates of gold-rarity guns will be increased game-wide as well. Apart from the increase of gold weaponry, Apex Legends leaker Shrugtal also claims that the event will include air horns around the map as well as loot balls dropping from the sky for players to track down.

The event is only expected to be live today, so interested players should jump on and have as much fun with the changes as they can. Players will have to remember to keep things light-hearted as the increase of gold weapons will make player loadouts more powerful, and if last year is any indication, the golden Mozambique will enjoy a place in the spotlight. Pathfinder will likely see a rise in use as well, that way players can try to take advantage of the P2020's high damage while riding one of Apex Legends' signature ziplines.

With this update, Apex Legends joins many other games that have limited-time events to celebrate the holiday, including Overwatch making some crazy changes to its heroes in Experimental Mode. The trend of fun game updates on April 1 has become a yearly event that many gamers look forward to, and it is always great to see the different approaches that games take, such as Fortnite adding a new skin inspired by the 'stonks' meme.  While the events last, it is best to try and get as much fun out of them as one can.

Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
