Respawn Entertainment’s foray into the battle royale genre, Apex Legends, has had a lot of ups and downs since its surprise launch in 2019. There’s no doubting how much the game has grown though and how many players have been enticed with the game since launch. Some of this growth includes the events and new characters routinely added in Apex Legends, but some of this is entirely on the player base too.

Many players and streamers are highly dedicated to Apex Legends, which helps foster its future. In that vein, one streamer has managed to break a new record and set a new bar for players—namely, they are the first player to hit 200, 000 kills on a single character.

Twitch streamer abusing_r2 celebrates with his community as he crossed this threshold live on stream. Perhaps most interestingly is the fact that this is done with Mirage, a legend many don’t believe to be competitively viable at higher tiers of play. That didn’t stop abusing_r2, of course, as they got their last kill and cross this threshold with a RE-45 and a finisher on Storm Point. This final kill came about with someone letting abusing_r2 get the kill, but that doesn’t take away from the achievement whatsoever.

Of course, this journey was a long one for abusing_r2 who has always managed other impressive milestones along the way, namely a total of over 47 million damage and 240,000 headshots with Mirage. It took a lot of grinding on behalf of the Mirage main, who shared and thanked their community for this. This is far from the first player-based achievement in the game and it certainly won’t be the last.

While the new character, new maps, and other additions to the game this year remain to be seen, there’s no doubt that Apex Legends isn’t going to slow down. In fact, one can only imagine that it’s a matter of time before this Mirage main hits 300K kills, 400K kills, 500K kills, and so on. Now, whether abusing_r2 is the first to achieve that again remains to be seen, as Apex Legends will only continue to grow and other players may see their eyes on this new goal.

For now, players will just have to see what records get set next. Apex Legends season 12 starts next month, and when it does, fans only expect the new character and additions to add even more fuel to the fire.

Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
