Over the weekend, Anthem's VIP demo suffered myriad problems, with one of the most egregious among them being the dreaded infinite loading screen issue that caused many to miss out on play time with the game's pre-launch build. On top of the technical errors, a lot of players were disappointed that the action-RPG wouldn't allow them to sprint throughout the game's hub world of Fort Tarsis, forcing them to walk at what felt like a snail's pace instead. Thankfully, it looks as if BioWare will add running as an option in Fort Tarsis upon the game's full release.

According to BioWare General Manager Casey Hudson, the launch version of Anthem will cater to those who wish to dash to the various interactive points and objective markers in Fort Tarsis in order to then get into their Javelin suits as quickly as possible. As stated by the BioWare GM, "There was a run speed that was in [the game]. And then for some reason it was out of the game for when that particular build [the VIP demo build] was made. It is back in, in the main game, anyway."

While it's safe to presume that many players looking forward to Anthem's release will be excited to learn that BioWare has been listening to their feedback and is responding in kind, it must be mentioned that it looks as if the forthcoming open demo will still only allow walking in Fort Tarsis. Even so, at least the developer has decided that it will give players who experienced the VIP period the ability to have all Javelins unlocked from the start of the public demo so they will have the chance to try each one out.

Beyond the addition of adding a sprint button in Fort Tarsis, Anthem has plenty of other launch fixes in store so that the final version of the game doesn't encounter as many issues as it did with the rocky start of its VIP demo. With any luck, it will be smooth sailing for both BioWare and fans of the action-RPG once the title officially goes live across multiple platforms come next month.

Anthem is scheduled to release on February 22, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
