Just a couple of days ago, an Electronic Arts financial call discussing the company’s fiscal year saw CEO Andrew Wilson teasing the fact that an Anthem beta test is currently in the works, with the publisher hoping to use fan input and feedback to shape the developmental direction of the action-RPG. While no specifics were shared in regards to the contents of the beta test, single-player fans looking forward to the title can at least rest easy knowing that the game itself will contain solo play, as has now been confirmed by BioWare studio head Casey Hudson.

This much was detailed in a blog post today, with the BioWare General Manager discussing how many fans looking forward to Anthem have been concerned about the action-RPG's story working properly within the context of its multiplayer-heavy focus. According to Hudson, despite the fact that the narrative will exist in "an ever-changing multiplayer world", players will be able to "choose to play through the story with only your friends, or even on your own."

Hudson's assurance that solo play will be a part of the Anthem experience will likely cause many to rest easy for the time being, for following the action-RPG's debut during EA's E3 2017 showcase, a plethora of fans piped up to voice their concerns in regards to the title's commitment to single-player. Not long after this, lead designer Corey Gaspur made sure to let fans know that single-player is "very important" to BioWare, but he didn't say exactly how it would be handled. So, while the BioWare GM's recent explanation regarding the feature is still a bit vague, it at least sheds a bit more light on the matter.

As one might expect, BioWare intends on offering a much more sumptuous display of Anthem in a few weeks from now during EA Play at E3 2018, with the action-RPG set to be showcased alongside the likes of the next Battlefield. While the game's multiplayer elements will surely be a main focus of the company's presentation, single-player fans can only hope that something resembling an actual coherent campaign will be exhibited as well.

Anthem is currently scheduled to release at some point in early 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
