Anthem may not have taken off as a live-service game in the way that EA and BioWare hoped it would, but it's still getting new content every now and again. This now includes Mass Effect-themed armor, allowing players to dress up as various species from the Mass Effect universe.

In celebration of N7 Day, Anthem players can get their hands on armor based on the Asari, Turians, Quarians, and Krogans from Mass Effect. The armor admittedly looks pretty cool, though it's unlikely to tide over any Mass Effect fans who are anxious for a new entry in the critically-acclaimed series.

Whenever N7 Day rolls around, Mass Effect fans keep their fingers crossed that some big announcement will be made, but this year it seems they'll have to settle on the Anthem Mass Effect armor. Those hoping for a Mass Effect trilogy remaster or news of a brand new Mass Effect game will have to keep their fingers crossed that such announcements will be made next year, or maybe during EA's likely E3 2020 press conference next summer.

In the meantime, the Anthem Mass Effect armor is being released as part of the ongoing Season of Skulls event. The Anthem Season of Skulls event may be most well-known for the new Mass Effect armor, but it also adds some new lore for fans of the looter-shooter to discover. Whether or not it has effectively brought back lapsed players is unclear, but it doesn't seem like the event is substantial enough to give Anthem the shot in the arm it needs.

Unfortunately for any fans of the game, Anthem appears to be fading into obscurity. Many of its lead developers have left the project and some of them have departed from BioWare entirely. Anthem's troubled development has been well-documented at this point, and it seems as though the game never really had a chance, all things considered. With interest in the game at an all-time low, it makes sense that BioWare has more or less moved on from it to focus its resources on future projects.

The next BioWare game will be Dragon Age 4, which has been teased to be getting an announcement in December. BioWare will be counting on Dragon Age 4 to repair its reputation, but we'll have to wait and see if its successful.

Anthem is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
