It's been over a year since Anthem crash-landed and players were unhappy with the product they initially received, yet Bioware is continuing to support the title. The game is now receiving another update to keep players entertained and there seems to be plenty on offer for those who have stuck with the title.

Anthem sparked a lot of excitement when it was announced, partly because of its mechanics, its graphics, and also because it was developed by the infamous BioWare. The hype around the title was quickly dashed when the game was released with a poor looting system, a distinct lack of story, and repetitive game elements. Despite the negative reception, BioWare has persisted with the title and made some improvements to what was originally released.

The new event entitled Icetide brings ice storms into Bastion. With this ice comes seasonally themed strongholds, freeplay time travels and a new Legendary World Event: Icetide Coolant Harvesting. On top of this, there are plenty of bug fixes for textures, lighting, and audio issues. Gameplay bugs have also been rectified for a smoother playing experience and the overpowered rainmaker has been fixed so that it is no longer 200% stronger than intended. This update will improve the game and the investment in its support has suggested that Anthem will reboot and maybe find a place in players hearts yet.

BioWare and EA will both hope constant support will save Anthem and the new features and fixes will certainly go along way to getting players back on the game. If original fans return to the title it would be an incredible turn around for the game, it is evident that the teams behind the game are still pushing to turn the tide make the game a flagship title. After all, Anthem did draw an incredible amount of attention when it was first released.

The game also sold well, in fact, Anthem is one of the best selling games of this year. If players who purchased the game can be convinced, through these updates, to return the game could bounce back and become a successful franchise. Whether EA will carry on supporting the game after Icetide will be dependant on the success of events and updates. For now, Icetide may have some players re-opening their hearts to Anthem this Christmas.

Anthem is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
