Since Anthem was released back in February, players have continually taken issue with numerous aspects of BioWare's new multiplayer looter shooter. These issues have primarily focused around bugs and the game's perceived lack of content, and Anthem's playerbase has undoubtedly dwindled as a result. While this has led some to feel that the future of Anthem is "not looking good at all," a hefty discount to the title may be the latest attempt to stem the bleeding.

Specifically, players can currently purchase Anthem, for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, at 50% off. This significant Anthem discount is available through Best Buy, and it knocks down the cost of the game to just $29.99.

While it is certainly not uncommon for games to be discounted rather quickly after their release, half off on a title that was launched less than three months ago does seem notable, especially when that title has both BioWare and EA behind it. That said, it was recently revealed that Anthem sales did not meet EA's expectations, which could definitely be a contributing factor to this expedient and noteworthy Anthem sale.

For those that have been considering picking up Anthem, despite the concerns that have been voiced about the title, this deal may be a good opportunity to do so. However, it is worth mentioning that the level at which the game will continue to be supported is somewhat unclear at this time.

Indeed, BioWare has indicated that it is still committed to adding new Anthem content, but when that new content will arrive is currently unknown. This uncertainty is due, in part, to the fact that, at the end of April, many of the major post-launch features that players were expecting were indefinitely delayed, and fans are still awaiting new release dates for these features.

Of course, players can certainly still experience the base Anthem experience regardless of the game's post-launch support, and this new Anthem deal is a way to do that for less money. Whether that experience alone is worth the $30 price tag is up to each individual player to decide for themselves, and it remains to be seen if the sale has any impact on the title's diminishing playerbase.

Anthem is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
