BioWare's newest IP, Anthem, is currently available in Early Access for players who are Origin Access users on PC, and for Xbox One players who are also part of the EA Access service. With players finally putting the game through its paces, new issues and bugs have started to surface, including the issue of longer than expected loading times. As BioWare showed during the demo phases earlier this month, the studio isn't sitting back, and is quickly putting together a huge list of updates, changes, and fixes in preparation of the game's full launch.

The game's Day One patch is to go live alongside the official release of Anthem on Friday, February 22. So far, the patch includes five high-level fixes for some of the more pressing issues such as challenge tracking problems, infinite loading screen and disconnect issues, and one of the biggest reported problems, the lengthy loading times. Details on what is specifically changing were not provided, but players should see improved load times across the entire game.

The update will also feature 29 general fixes and improvements, as well as updates to the UI, gear and weapons, Strongholds, and everything in between. avelins–that is, Anthem's equivalent of character classes–are also getting a number of fixes as well.

The tank-like Colossus can now activate its shield more quickly after using an ability or firing a weapon. Better yet, Colossus players will now be able to shield and revive at the same time. Storm javelins now react to getting hit when its shields are up and the exploit that allowed the Storm's ultimate ability to be used more times than intended has been fixed. Finally, the interceptor combo aura not only has an increase in power but it also comes with damage over time perk as well.

A Reddit post also discussing the upcoming Anthem update has also managed to attract a number of BioWare developers, who clarified a few of the points for interested readers. According to development manager Camden Eagar, the Interceptor is also getting a few more updates on February 22 that improve the control and direction of a number of its moves, including Spark Dash, Venom Spray, and Tempest Strike.

Loot was also a hot topic discussed within the community, including the recent chest farming nerf. In terms of the chest farming update, Lead Systems Designer Chris Schmidt confirmed that the patch was only applied to chests that spawned outside of world events. Brenon Holmes, Anthem's Technical Design Director, confirmed that even though final bosses of Strongholds now actually drop loot, it's mainly for visual effect, as the weapons and gear are automatically picked up.
