Having already been compared to Destiny by many, EA and its fans have high hopes for Anthem. The social, quest-centered game was orginially set to release late this year, but was delayed due to the massive competition this fall's game lineup held. By doing this, EA no longer needs to worry about sharing sales with Red Dead Redemption 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, and Battlefield V.

Anthem will now have far less competition at launch, making it one of the most anticipated games of early 2019. Its release is no doubt exciting for gamers interested in an investment-based co-op experience, and EA has now made it even more exciting for gamers as they have a chance to participate in its closed Alpha Test.

EA has a long track record of allowing players to test its games, so it is no surprise that the upcoming Alpha Test will be available for some lucky gamers. To begin registration, gamers must first head to EA's Community Playtesting website. There they will then be prompted to create or sign in to their EA account. After signing in, a series of questions will be asked, including the preferred platform and play times. If selected, gamers will see confirmation on the site, as well as receive an email detailing how to pre-download Anthem's Alpha client. EA does make it clear that registration is on a first come, first served basis, and there are a limited amount of spots available.

Anthem's Alpha Test will take place through multiple sessions that occur from December 8-9, but registration will end on December 3. Although many gamers will not initially be selected, it is important for them to consistently check their status on the site, as some on the waitlist may still have a chance to participate. Pre-orders do not affect the Alpha Test, but a VIP spot in the pre-launch demo will still be available for those who have pre-ordered Anthem.

Despite Electronic Arts' decision to allow some gamers into the Alpha Test, many will still not get a chance to participate. Luckily, Anthem may very well support an open beta early next year. While this is merely speculation, the fact that EA is already allowing the public to participate in its Alpha Test suggests that it wants gamers to experience the game firsthand before buying. Thankfully for fans eager to get their hands on it, Anthem's beta test cannot be far off now.

Anthem will release on February 22, 2019, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
