The MCU has entered a new saga, the Multiverse Saga. Many returning characters are expected to burst onto the silver screen, with Phase 4 set to end very soon. Within Phase 5 lies Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. This film is set to feature heavily in the Quantum Realm and will feature Johnathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror, the newest Thanos-level threat to not just the Marvel Universe but the Marvel Multiverse.

There is plenty that audiences can learn about Kang from Marvel Comics, but little is known about the character that will debut in the MCU with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. It is to be expected that many things will stay the same, and the film will build upon the foundation seen in Disney Plus’ Loki series.

6 Variant Led The TVA

When audiences tuned in weekly for Disney Plus’ Loki, they didn’t expect to meet a variant of Kang, known as He Who Remains. This variant of Kang founded the Time Variance Authority, which sought to preserve the Sacred Timeline and rid the Multiverse of his variants and any unwanted Multiverse events that could threaten the original timeline.

Sadly for He Who Remains, he was killed by Sylvie Laufeydottir, and the timeline suffered greatly for it. He was the keeper of the peace, despite being a dictator. With his death, the Multiverse was unguarded, and as such, Kang the Conqueror can return in full force to do what he could not before the death of He Who Remains.

5 Nathaniel Richards

Despite such an ominous name as Kang, this character is called Nathaniel Richards. In Marvel Comics, Nathaniel Richards was born in the 30th century, and instead of the mainline Marvel Universe of 616, he was of Earth-6311. This world’s Nathaniel Richards is the possible descendant of Reed Richards, also known as Mister Fantastic or Doctor Doom.

Despite a convoluted origin and a lack of conclusive explanations, it wasn’t long before Kang grew bored of his universe and the ultimate peace found there. He traveled to Earth-616 and found inspiration from ancient Egypt. From here, he conquered his reality before returning to Earth.

4 An Interest In Scott Lang

Trailers for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania leaves many questions, but one is perhaps found in the ultimate interest that Kang has in Scott Lang. It’s no secret that Scott is an essential Avenger. After all, his discovery in the Quantum Realm made time travel possible. Perhaps Kang respects this discovery and wants to help Scott return to reality as a warning to the heroes on Earth that Kang is coming.

Kang has spoken to Scott in the trailer shown at Comic-Con and the one released publically, but both conversations seem to show Kang interested in Scott Lang as a person rather than as Ant-Man. Perhaps there’s a level of respect in Kang, much like there was for Thanos in Tony Stark.

3 Allies With Doctor Doom

The Marvel Universe is in for trouble with Kang the Conqueror on the warpath. However, Kang may not be the very worst that Marvel has to offer, as Doctor Doom is still yet to be introduced. This character is utterly fierce and incredibly intelligent. A character that bows for no one and respects even less than no one. Paired with the stubborn intellect of Kang, the two could be a great and diabolical duo.

In the comics, the two have worked together before, but not without both secretly planning to betray one another. Their team efforts led them to great energy sources, and they even searched for the Infinity Gauntlet together. What better duo to bring back the Infinity Saga than Kang and Doom?

2 MCU Appearances

Since a variant of Kang has appeared in Loki, and the main man himself will debut in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, many wonder what is next for the Multiverse Saga. However, they won’t have to wonder for too long, as the next Avengers film, The Kang Dynasty, will surely feature the character facing off against the Avengers at their new Phase 6 might.

However, this isn’t the final Avengers film of the Multiverse Saga, as there is set to be Avengers 6, with Secret Wars. Kang the Conqueror could have a more fleshed-out role than even Thanos, and it leaves plenty of hope in the air of what awaits Kang’s MCU appearances.

1 Kang Has Killed Avengers

In the trailer revealed exclusively for Comic-Con of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, there is a line of dialogue that had fans excited. Kang talks to Ant-Man and says, “You’re an Avenger? Have I killed you before?” This line is terrifying and is just the tip of the iceberg since it is only the trailer for the final film at hand.

Many fear for the safety of Scott Lang, as Kang must have killed plenty of Avengers across the Multiverse if he doesn’t even remember who Scott Lang is or if he is one of the many that he has killed during his time as a relentless conqueror.

Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania lands in theaters in 2023.
