All of the games published by Annapurna Interactive have pretty favorable reviews on Metacritic, but which ones are the best? In this list, the critic scores for each game have been averaged across all the platforms that they appear on. Only critic ratings will be considered, though some player reviews may be mentioned when explaining a score.

10 Donut County (80)

In Donut County, players get to be a raccoon named BK, who drives a hole around Donut County to steal whatever falls in the hole. The hole even gets bigger as players send more items into it, enhancing the chaos in the process.

The game has been praised for its sense of humor, creative art style, and a great story that makes players come back for more. Some critics have been a bit disappointed in certain aspects of Donut County though, with most saying that they wish that the game was longer.

9 Telling Lies (82)

Telling Lies

Telling Lies is all about watching secret video conversations and trying to figure out the story behind them all. Fans of Her Story are sure to like this game, as it's a similar concept made by the same developer, Sam Barlow.

Many critics write about how much they liked the in-depth story and the great performances from the game's actors. However, those who have mixed feelings about Telling Lies usually compare it to Her Story and how it didn't seem like the best successor for a fan-favorite game. Fan reviews also tend to bring up bugs or poor interface usage on certain platforms.

8 Outer Wilds (84)

bafta game of the year 2020

The world of Outer Wilds takes players to a solar system that is stuck in a time loop. Each time the loop resets, players can visit different worlds to explore and try to find out if the time loop can come to a halt.

Outer Wilds has a lot to offer, including beautiful landscapes, a great musical score, and mechanics that feed a player's urge to explore. These aspects alone could have given it a higher score, but critics and fans alike complained about how little direction the game provides to new players.

7 Gorogoa (85)

An extremely unique and mesmerizing title, Gorogoa is a puzzle game where players move and interact with panels that have all been hand-drawn by its developer, Jason Roberts. Players might come for the puzzles, but they'll be sure to stay for the amazing artwork.

Gorogoa's visuals can take a player's breath away, and many users are likely to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere since there is no rush to finish each puzzle. Reviewers who had a mediocre experience usually bring up that they were expecting a more difficult puzzle experience or a longer game.

6 Sayonara Wild Hearts (85)

This game has so many different factors that are sure to keep most players feeling excited and entertained. With its own, unique soundtrack, Sayonara Wild Hearts has dancing, sword fights, motorcycles, and more that will leave jaws on the floor.

Critics praised these visuals and the fantastic musical score as some of the stand-out parts of this game. However, some have said that these things try to hide a shorter, lack-luster story that sought to expand onto other platforms when it should have stayed on mobile. If players aren't sure about the game, listen to the album to get an impression of it.

5 Florence (86)

Florence tells the story of a young woman named Florence who meets a man named Krish. The game follows their relationship as it develops and changes their lives in several ways. It's a common story with its own unique feel.

The game impressed critics with its realistic and relatable story. However, similar to the other games on this list, some players complained that the game is too short, with many saying that it's not worth the price for such a quick experience.

4 If Found... (87)

Available for mobile and PC users, If Found... was released this year as a visual novel about a girl named Kasio. It centers around her diary that may reveal what happened to cause a black hole to appear before it swallowed the world.

Like other Annapurna Interactive games, the story-driven gameplay and mesmerizing soundtrack are highlights of If Found. Many reviewers also found it to be relatable and appreciated its inclusion of LGBTQ+ topics. Some might find the gameplay to be a bit unoriginal, though.

3 Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition (87)

When it comes to this game about strange people traveling on an even stranger road under Kentucky's normal streets, most people either really love or really hate Kentucky Route Zero.

Most reviews from critics are extremely favorable, as they tend to enjoy the character interactions along with the art style and the mystery behind the game's story. Still, reviews from a few critics and many from the general public are much more unfavorable. Many found the game to be too slow, and that there isn't enough involvement from players to classify it as much of a video game.

2 Gone Home (88)

Gone Home

While Annapurna Interactive only published the Switch version of Gone Home, it currently has the highest Metascore out of any version of the game. The story revolves around the player coming home to find that their family isn't around, but clues about their family life have been left behind instead.

Critics really seem to love this game, and they tend to be impressed with how the story can have so much detail and narrative just by finding clues and piecing them together. Most of the negative reviews come from users who don't get much enjoyment out of this type of gameplay, but that's to be expected for pretty much any title.

1 What Remains of Edith Finch (89)

What Remains of Edith Finch Diary

Anyone who loves a compelling story needs this game in their library. Players get to play as Edith Finch as she returns to her family home that she inherited when her mother died. She is determined to find out why there seems to be a curse around her family and how people die.

Critics tend to love how this game uses emotions, as it skillfully makes players feel sadness from Edith's loss, but also realize that she's able to enjoy the memories that she had with her family. Even when reviewers bring up the issue of feeling like they are watching instead of playing a game, most people don't seem to mind it, as the story is so intriguing.
