With the release of the Animal Crossing: New Horizons' 2.0 Update and the Happy Home Paradise paid DLC, Nintendo has said that it would represent the game's last major update. Keyword being "major" as a notable leaker is claiming that Animal Crossing: New Horizons may be getting updated in the near future.

Nintendo leaker Samus Hunter posted a tweet claiming that a small update may be coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons that will introduce new festive Holiday items to the game. They also state that the update may even be minor enough that the update could even download in the background while the game is running.

Samus Hunter does not give any indication as to when this update can happen, only saying that the update will happen "soon." Seeing that this is also a leak, it is possible that the information may also be inaccurate. If this Animal Crossing: New Horizons update does include Holiday items, then it may occur somewhere around the time snow finally falls in the game, which could be shortly after Turkey Day or early December.

There are no indications as to what items could be coming, but it's easy to believe that new cooking recipes could be among them. With the addition of new produce items thanks to the 2.0 update, cooking is a new fun activity in the game that can add more to the holiday cheer in the later months. The addition of flour and sugar in the game, along with pumpkins that were previously available can lead to seasonal pies and holiday cookies.

Thanks to new customization tools, some items that were available last year may be able to get a new seasonal coat of paint to help with the festive mood of islands. Perhaps these new items can be earned by making Perfect Snowboys. Or maybe it will be possible to have more decorations strewn onto fences. Some cedar trees were randomly chosen to have decorative lights last year. It would be nice if players got the option to choose which trees they could decorate. Hopefully, Snowboy decorations can also be on the cards as they can help spruce up interacting with Snowboys after creating them. However, this is all just speculation at this time. If Animal Crossing: New Horizons is really getting new holiday items, fans will have to wait and see what they are.

Updates around major worldwide holidays like this and small patches to fix bugs that pop up in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is all that fans can expect going forward. Nintendo has made it clear that it wants to move on to other games and new item updates may become even rarer as time goes on.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons and the Happy Home Paradise DLC are now available on the Nintendo Switch.
