Usually, the protagonist is given the strongest power, and it can range anywhere from being able to manipulate time to elemental control. However, there are certain abilities that allow characters to nullify the effects of a special ability completely. Such abilities can render any kind of power utterly useless, so it is not very often that anime characters are given the ability to nullify powers.

9 Blackbeard (One Piece)

He is among the strongest characters in the series. Blackbeard's rise to prominence was largely down to his incredibly powerful Yami Yami no Mi. It is a logia type devil fruit that gives Blackbeard the power to control darkness at will. With this power, Blackbeard was able to steal Whitebeard's devil fruit.

Furthermore, the Yami Yami no Mi also allows Blackbeard to nullify the power of other devil fruits. Blackbeard first demonstrated this power against Portgas D. Ace when he nullified the intangibility of the latter's Mera Mera no Mi.

While Asta does not have the power to use magic, he does have the ability to nullify the magic of others, and it is reasonable to say that it is one of the strongest abilities in Black Clover.

In his fight against Diavolo, Giorno completely reverted all the actions of the enemy and thus, nullified the power of his Stand.

Another special thing about Giorno's Stand is that the Stand can act on its own accord, and it doesn't require Giorno to be active all the time.

4 Merlin (Seven Deadly Sins)

Merlin was labeled a prodigy and her father believed that she was destined for great things. Because of her skill, both the Demon King and the Supreme Deity tried to get Merlin on their side by offering her unreal abilities.

Merlin ended up fooling both of them and gaining unimaginable power. One of her abilities is Absolute Cancel, which allows her to erase the effects of a spell and thus, nullify its effect. Merlin can also increase the duration of her spells by using Infinity.

Clear Note is among the final villains of the series. His spells are based on annihilation, which makes them extremely potent. Clear Note's offensive spells are capable of weakening his opponents significantly. However, the strongest weapon in his arsenal are the defensive spells.

These spells are able to nullify the spells of his opponents completely. This gives Clear Note a huge advantage over his target as they are rendered completely defenseless.

2 Kaguya Otsutsuki (Naruto)

Kaguya Otsutsuki was the final antagonist in Naruto. After being revived by Black Zetsu, she was able to wreak havoc on the battlefield. As the progenitor of chakra, Kaguya had extraordinarily powerful chakra. She was able to toy with the entire Team 7 without any problems.

Ordinary ninjutsu did not work against Kaguya as she can absorb it quite easily. She also caused Sasuke's susanoo to disperse just by touching it.

Also known as "A- The Almighty," Yhwach is the main antagonist of the Bleach series. Yhwach's Almighty makes one of the most fearsome villains in anime history. When Almighty is activated, Yhwach can see into the foreseeable future and alter it to his liking.

He is also able to gain immunity against any kind of power, which in essence means that he can nullify their effect. With all these abilities at his disposal, it is no wonder that it took a great deal of effort from the protagonists to take him down.
