Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the newest installment in the Animal Crossing franchise, has a lot of villagers that are able to visit or live on the player's island, but what about the NPC's that can't live there? The game also has several travelers, shopkeepers/salesmen, and even a friendly ghost.

With such a large list of interactable characters, it can be hard to keep track of them all. This list will cover ten of the NPC's in the game that are able to visit the player's island, what they do, when they will arrive, and any necessary conditions for their arrival.

10 10. Wisp

Wisp is a little round ghost (with a shape resembling a Boo) that can be found wandering the island at night. He will appear on random nights, in a random area on the island, between the hours of 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Upon finding Wisp, the player will be tasked with finding his 5 spirit orbs (as they startle him and he is afraid of ghosts) drifting around the island (a net is required). After returning them to Wisp, he will ask the player if they would like their reward to be something they do not have, or "something expensive." Unfortunately for the player, choosing neither choice guarantees the specified reward type, as Wisp does not know what the player does or does not have and has trouble judging the value of things.

9 9. Gulliver

animal crossing new horizons gulliver laying on the sand beach

Gulliver is a seafaring seagull that is continually getting washed ashore on the player's island, needing to call his shipmates to come and pick him up (again). He appears washed up and passed out on the island's beach on random days.

Upon waking Gulliver up, he reveals that his communicator is broken and missing five parts that the player needs to dig up from the sandy beach. After returning his communicator parts, Gulliver will call his shipmates, thank the player, and later get picked up offscreen. The next day the player will receive a letter from him expressing his gratitude, and a unique item.

8 8. Flick

Flick is a red chameleon who has a strong love of bugs. He appears on random days and will offer to buy the player's bugs for 1.5x their standard retail price. He will also make models of any bugs if he is given three of that bug.

Flick will host the Bug Off, a bug-catching competition on the third Saturday of summer months (Northern Hemisphere: June - September. Southern Hemisphere: November - February). Between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. the player can enter this competition (the first entry is free, after which it costs 500 bells) which consists of a 3-minute long timed challenge to catch as many bugs as possible. The player is rewarded with points that can be exchanged for special, unique prizes (points are saved between competitions, each item costs 10 points).

7 7. C.J.

C.J. is a fishing beaver and the son of Chip. He appears on random days and will offer to buy the player's fish for 1.5x their standard retail price. He will also get Flick to make models of any fish if C.J. is given three of that fish.

C.J. will also host the Fishing Tourney, a fishing competition on the second Saturday of January, April, July, and October. Between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. the player can enter this competition (the first entry is free, after which it costs 500 bells) which consists of a 3-minute long timed challenge to catch as many fish as possible. The player is rewarded with points that can be exchanged for special, unique prizes (points are saved between competitions, each item costs 10 points).

6 6. Daisy Mae

animal crossing new horizons visitors

Daisy Mae is a young boar who will arrive on the player's island every Sunday morning (between 5 a.m. and 12 p.m.) selling her grandmother's turnips (which can be sold to the Nooklings for fluctuating prices).

Daisy Mae's introduction to Animal Crossing was in New Horizons, where she took over her grandmother Joan's role as the turnip salesperson. The turnips can be used to make a lot of bells and also are needed for a couple of Nook Miles tasks. She does not have a set location she appears at and will instead just wander the island during her active hours.

5 5. Celeste

Celeste is a red owl and the sister of Blathers (the museum curator). She has a keen interest in astronomy and ran the observatory in past games. Now she is a random visitor that will appear during nights on the island, however, she will always appear if there is a meteor shower (but can come without one).

Celeste will give the player a DIY recipe during each visit for exclusive space-themed items, or wands. If the player has a rare Zodiac fragment or Zodiac piece of furniture, she will tell the player a story about that star sign.

4 4. Leif

Animal Crossing Leif Plaza

Leif is a sloth that enjoys gardening. He was introduced in Animal Crossing: New Leaf and is the only sloth to ever appear in the series. Leif owns a gardening store and will sell flowers seed and shrub starters. He will also buy weeds from the player at double their normal price.

Leif will appear in the plaza once it has been upgraded, between the hours of 5 a.m. and 10 p.m. During the Nature Day event, Leif is significantly more likely to appear on the island. If three or more items are purchased from him, he will give the player the Hedge DIY recipe.

3 3. Label/Labelle

Animal Crossing New Horizons Label

Label, also known as Labelle (sharing the name with her designer label), is the middle sister of the Able Sisters trio.

Label will appear at random in the Plaza after the Able Sisters shop has been built. She asks the player to dress as a specific theme (giving a free article of clothing that matches the theme) and will reward the player (if they dress appropriately) with an article of clothing from her designer brand and two Tailor Tickets (in the mail) valued at 3000 bells in the Able Sisters shop.

2 2. Jolly Redd

Animal Crossing Redd Beach Bob

Formerly known as Crazy Redd, Jolly Redd has rebranded himself and come to sell his wares at the player's island. He appears at random, with his boat being docked at the island's secret beach (northern shore). On his first appearance, he will be wandering the island, after which he can be found on his ship.

Redd sells the player art pieces and furniture. The art (of which there are 43 pieces) can be donated to the museum to fill that wing. Redd has however been known to sell fraudulent or haunted art pieces, so checking the in-game art against the real-life equivalent is imperative to getting a real piece (especially since the player can only buy one per visit).

1 1. K.K. Slider

The musical sensation K.K. Slider will also visit the player's island. K.K. is a traveling musician with a laidback personality who enjoys performing for people.

He appears every Saturday after the plaza is upgraded and the player has reached a 3-star rated island. K.K. will not begin his performance until 6 p.m. and the player has three options of song choice during the performance (picking a mood, a specific song, or letting K.K. pick). After the performance, the player will receive the album for the song (only one album can be obtained per visit, although there can be multiple performances).
