According to a recent announcement, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp will be welcoming eight new villagers to its game. These additions will not only be arriving in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp but will also be coming to Nintendo's latest installment in the franchise, Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is a 2017 mobile game from Nintendo’s Animal Crossing series. This title functions similarly to other games from the series and has players take on small tasks, interact with fellow campers, and decorate living spaces. The Animal Crossing series has had hundreds of different characters in its games and there are over 200 options in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp alone.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp will be welcoming eight villagers with whom players can now interact. This list includes Ione the Squirrel, Quinn the Eagle, Cephalobot the Octopus, Marlo the Hamster, Sasha the Rabbit, Shino the Deer, Petri the Mouse, and Tiansheng the Monkey. These eight are being brought into this game before they are launched as part of the much larger Animal Crossing Series 5 Amiibo cards. The post announcement gives out the description and birthday for each character and it is a mix of the usual personalities in these games. This cast will also be joining the long roster of characters available in Animal Crossing: New Horizons with that game’s upcoming 2.0 update on November 5.

This announcement functions as an early part of the last free major update to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. With the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 update, Nintendo is adding a list of new characters, a new shop in the museum, and new features to the 2020 game. Bringing eight new characters to Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp just a week before this major content drop encourages fans of both games to get back into the series right before new additions are brought in.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp has had some additions since its release but this is a welcome surprise for players of the mobile game. Though not as large of a content update as the forthcoming one for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it still should add a bit more variety for its players to enjoy.

Then again, it can seem as though this content drop is really just a part of preparations for that New Horizons update. Which can leave Pocket Camp players feeling a bit indifferent about this news. But, at the end of the day, fans of either game will be getting new characters to talk to and new content to play.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is out now for iOS and Android devices.
