Animal Crossing is more popular than ever, continuing to ride the wave of success it saw with the Switch release Animal Crossing: New Horizons. However, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, the mobile game, is also popular in its own right, and it sounds like fans are in for something fresh coming soon.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp has now confirmed that a new event is coming to the game. Players are going to be able to create their own special celebratory dango in a seasonal event called Lucky Dango Potluck.

The Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Lucky Dango event is set to start on September 1 at 11pm PT, and will mark the first time that the game has seen an event quite like this. The start of Japan's Moon Viewing autumn festival is rapidly approaching, and this event is an Animal Crossing-style take on the festivities. In Japan, special dango, or dumplings, are made to celebrate the event that are called tsukimi dango. This is what players will be making in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, with a promotional image showing the player character pounding mochi flour.

So far, that's all the information that has been publicly provided about the event, but Animal Crossing dataminers have already been hard at work digging up more details. The event is a Together Event, which will likely task players all over the world with achieving a certain goal to unlock more rewards. Based on dataminers' findings, the event will include a brand new minigame that will have players prepping the dough for making dango. Players will have a set amount of time to tap and swirl the dough to make dango. There's also an event ticket that players will need to pick up in order to participate in the event.

Beyond these details, not much is known about the new event. However, that should make it fairly exciting for Pocket Camp players, as any rewards are largely a mystery. Sadly for Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans, this update highlights the fact that New Horizons' support has come to an end while the mobile game continues to see additions. Fans can of course play both to enjoy everything the series has to offer at the moment, but many would have liked to have seen New Horizons continue to receive updates, too.

With summer starting to come to a close, seasonal events like these will continue popping up in games. Fans of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp should make sure to not miss the event, as any rewards are likely to be limited to the event for the foreseeable future. It will be interesting to see if Pocket Camp introduces more new seasonal themed events as time progresses.
