There is a staggering amount of games on the Nintendo Switch, many of which offer large playtimes for the players, however, not all games can or should be played indefinitely, getting stale or boring overtime (or offering little to no content after beating the story).

This list contains 10 of the best games on the Nintendo Switch that can be played basically forever, be it through random generation, online play, or a sheer amount of content available to the players, some of which many people may not have heard of or had a chance to play yet.

This game largely revolves around letting players go at their own pace. It's designed to be played for a couple of hours a day (or more, if the player so chooses) and changes throughout the year, having a lot of events (devs have also announced intended support for the next 3 years).

9 51 Worldwide Games

51 Worldwide Games is another recent addition to the Switch's library, being a collection of famous and popular worldwide games (including chess, tennis, bowling, mahjong, fishing, and poker to name a few). This game also allows or local and online multiplayer for those that desire it, and 4 levels of AI opponents for those that don't.

Due to this game essentially being a minigame collection, as well as having so many games that people regularly play, decently challenging AI opponents, and online interactivity, it is a game that players can keep coming back to for a long time.

8 Slay the Spire

Due to the many unique cards and possible builds (using both cards, special items, and different characters) makes this game have a lot of play-time for those interested in the genre or 100% completion. Along with its semi-randomly generated nature, players will be able to experience new levels and runs forever.

7 Enter the Gungeon

Enter the Gungeon is a top-down gun-centric rogue-like game. With a large cast of vastly different playable characters, diverse enemies, a high difficulty level, and an insane amount of guns (and items), players are guaranteed to be busy for quite a while.

Being a rogue-like with an immense amount of content means that even after 100% completion (which should take most players a very long time), the players will still have a lot of possible runs/play-time left in the game just for fun that will still be largely unique (along with a couple of challenge modes).

6 The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth +

One of the largest and most influential rogue-like games of all time has its remaster and DLC on the Switch; The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth +. A randomly generated Zelda-inspired indie game with thousands of hours of gameplay and a final, huge DLC expansion on the way.

Being one of the most popular and famous rogue-likes includes having a sheer staggering amount of content in the game (with the 100% achievement being called 1000000% completion, and another major DLC update on the way). Along with many of the special challenge runs and daily runs makes this game have beyond infinite playability.

5 Splatoon 2

Splatoon 2 firing from Battle Bridge

The most recent installment in one of Nintendo's biggest new IP's, Splatoon 2, cracks the top 5 of this list. The game is a third-person shooter with two large single-player campaigns (including the Octo Expansion DLC), a myriad of weapons, and several online multiplayer game modes.

Being an online shooter automatically gives Splatoon 2 a huge amount of playability, coupling this with some of the crazier requirements for 100% completion in the campaigns (having to beat it multiple times with multiple weapons changing the difficulty and requiring some problem solving) will keep players busy for quite a while.

4 Minecraft

This game has infinite potential in what players can do and thus infinite playability. There are online servers dedicated to specific games, local and online multiplayer with friends or strangers, and of course the insane amount of single-player playability; between building things in Creative mode, or trying to see how long the player can survive for in Hardcore mode (where death is permanent).

3 Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

The best-selling game on the Switch, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, offers great playability. It is a racing party game that offers both local and online multiplayer (up to 4 people on a single Switch), as well as a large variety of courses and game modes to play (with many playable characters and karts/bikes to choose).

Being able to play online, try to get 3 stars on every cup in every speed, unlock all the kart/bike parts available (and Golden Mario), getting the best times on Time Trials mode and the fun Battle Mode will entertain players for hundreds of hours (especially with friends).

2 Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

The best-selling fighting game of all time, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, offers an immense playtime. With a lengthy singleplayer campaign (with multiple difficulties and a New Game +), over a thousand collectibles in the form of 'spirits', a huge roster of characters, with more on the way (in the form of paid DLC), not to mention the online and local multiplayer (the main appeal and use of the game) easily cements its place on this list.

Super Smash Bros. has always been a very fun game for couch co-op and with the biggest roster ever it allows friends (whether locally or online) mess around with all sorts of match-ups and stage choices to see what they like and who is the best.

1 Super Mario Maker 2

Super Mario Maker 2, the Switch's sequel to the Wii U's hit game. This game allows players to create their own Mario levels and play countless others from other players (online connectivity required). Player's can also play with or against others in the online multiplayer.

Finishing the list with a fairly self-explanatory game. The players can make their own Mario levels for themselves or others forever, along with having access to a literal infinite supply of levels from other players (which can be sorted by difficulty or popularity), and a fully fleshed-out story mode is included in the game as well.
