The Animal Crossing: New Horizons community is full of talented gamers that are constantly coming up with unique ways to decorate their island. One Animal Crossing: New Horizons player recently took the concept of a subway to the next level, showing off the result of their efforts on Reddit.

While creations based on The Legend of Zelda, Crash Bandicoot, and The Witcher are a ton of fun, designs of that kind will not fit well on any island. As such, it is always nice to see some community concepts that could easily be worked into a variety of player islands. While this normally takes the form of small decorations and area ideas, Redditor highpcy has managed to come up with something completely unique. For those that want a subway on their islands, highpcy has come up with a way to make it work.

Obviously, players cannot go below ground in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, so some trickery was required to simulate a subway. To make the area work, the Redditor used some elevated land and made a staircase leading down to create an illusion of a subway. Alongside some fencing and seating, a sign is used to better imitate a subway entrance. However, what makes this Animal Crossing: New Horizons build special is the fact that the subway is functional.

While the player is not able to go down to a subway car, they do manage to make their Villager teleport to the other side of the island. To pull this off, the Redditor uses two of the green pipes that were added in Animal Crossing’s Mario update. The crossover content may have brought cute outfits and items from Nintendo’s iconic franchise to players’ inventories, but the convenience of the pipes has made them a common sight on most islands. However, highpcy is smart to hide these pipes on a platform at the bottom of the steps, disguising them to add to the illusion of the subway.

As if the build was not cute enough, the fact that the clip begins with the player leaving school only adds to the cuteness, as it looks they are actually traveling a great distance to reach their Animal Crossing: New Horizons house. The bell that plays as they exit the school is a great touch, too. With proper roads present in the player’s city as well, there is a lot to appreciate. Unsurprisingly, the clip has brought in over 6,500 upvotes, likely inspiring many gamers to add a subway to their own islands.

Perhaps the next Animal Crossing game will feature play spaces so big that a subway station is actually a necessity. For now, though, it is just a cute addition to what looks like a beautiful island.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now on Nintendo Switch.
