Animal Crossing: New Horizons Winter Update New Events

After the huge Halloween bash that the Fall update brought to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the Winter Update has two exciting events in store for players until the end of the year. The first is the Turkey Day eventAnimal Crossing: New Horizons' take on American Thanksgiving. The event will commence on November 26, 2020, at 5 AM, and will run until 10 in the evening. However, players who practice time traveling in New Horizons should know that Nintendo has temporarily locked turkey Day until November 26 and will be off-limits to players even if they change their Nintendo Switch system date.

Additionally, Turkey Day will arrive on the same date and time for both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. The update will also decorate the square with dining tables and other Thanksgiving-themed decorations alongside a setup for a cooking table with pots, pans, and ingredients just outside the Resident Services. Lastly, players will be treated to some Thanksgiving music during Turkey Day.

Another event that will arrive in Animal Crossing: New Horizons this Winter is Toy Day. Like previous Animal Crossing games, Toy Day will begin on December 24 and is inspired by the Christmas Holiday. During the event, players will deliver presents to villagers, and toys are sold at Nook's Cranny alongside holiday-themed outfits at the Able Sisters. It is worth noting that snow will only be available to players in the Northern Hemisphere, while those in the Southern Hemisphere should expect a sunny day during Toy Day.

Apart from the previously mentioned events, the Winter Update will also bring several quality-of-life features to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. First is the ability to expand the player's storage, which has been a highly requested feature since the game's release. For those interested to expand, players must purchase an upgrade from Tom Nook that will increase the in-game storage from 1,600 spots to 2,400. Additionally, the latest update also brings new customization options that include a new collection of hairstyles alongside a new reaction set that players can use to express different emotions. Lastly, the update will allow players to transfer their save data to different Switch systems fully.

With the upcoming Turkey Day and Toy Day events, players should also expect visiting characters to serve as hosts during these events. For Turkey Day, players should expect to see the Turkey villager Franklin's return, who will head the Thanksgiving festivities. Franklin will appear just outside the island's Resident Services, and players can interact with him for special activities. On the other hand, Toy Day will see Jingle the Reindeer's arrival, and similar to Franklin, he will be the point person during the Christmas holiday. Interacting with Jingle will commence several activities wherein players will deliver gifts to villagers.

As expected, Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Winter Update will be jam-packed with new activities, events, characters, items, and DIY recipes. Nintendo teased another huge update that is expected to arrive sometime in January for those interested in knowing what's next for the game after the latest expansion. For now, players should gear up for the Winter season and enjoy everything that Nintendo has in store for the game.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
