As Animal Crossing: New Horizons moves into a new month, players will have several new critters that they will be able to catch. With August in full bloom, Northern Hemisphere players will find new fish like Rays to catch and new bugs like the Walker Cicada.

What is a Walker Cicada

Cicadas are tree-dwelling bugs that pop out of the ground in real life and make a lot of noise, and they also like to hang out in trees and chirp in Animal Crossing: New Horizon as well. The Walker Cicada is new for New Horizons players in the months of August and September in the Northern Hemisphere, between the hours of 8am and 5pm. For Southern Hemisphere players, the Walker Cicada will not pop up again until February and March during the same hours.

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the noisy Walker Cicada is a grayish-brown color, and will always be found on the trunks of fruit or hardwood trees.

Like most bugs in the game, players will have to sneak up on these Walker Cicadas with a net, flimsy net, or if players have figured out how to make one, a Gold Net. If players hold the button and then move, they will sneak slowly while holding their net at the ready. As soon as the trunk is within catching distance, let go of the catching button and catch that Cicada.

If players have not caught a Cicada yet, the screen will say "Yes!" as the player holds out their newly caught bug. Then it will say: "I caught a Walker Cicada! Pffft. I walk all the time and no one calls me Walker [players' name]." Then players can either horrify Blathers at the museum with this new buggy addition or sell it to Nook's Cranny for 400 Bells.

Players in the Northern Hemisphere will have several new bugs to look forward to this month that aren't the Walker Cicada, as well as a variety of new fish for August in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Make sure to catch them all before they go away in the next month or two.
