With Animal Crossing: New Horizons currently dominating social media and streaming sites as players gush about their experiences with Nintendo's adorable newest release, it's clear that fans simply want more. Through a lot of pre-launch press materials, it was clear that Nintendo was looking to offer just that, with the company announcing that it would be adding new holiday-based events and other small goodies. However, a recent datamine shows that the publisher has a lot more in store for New Horizons than just that in the coming months.

Posted on Twitter by dataminer Ninji, it seems as though Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be getting a number of significant updates alongside the Earth Day update, including additional upgrades to buildings and new food items to grow. Alongside that, it seems a staple character and feature from previous titles will be returning too, which will no doubt appeal to long-time fans who have played entries in the series prior to New Horizons.

The first of these major additions appears to be a series of brand new upgrades coming to Blathers' museum. According to Ninji, "there’s entries for two extra museum upgrades. All three levels (after the tent) seem to contain an art section." Alongside this, the dataminer claims, "There also seems to be two standalone buildings: the museum shop, and the museum cafe (which incorporates a Gyroid section)."

They also elaborate upon why an art section would be incorporated into the museum, stating "Redd appears to have a ship which will dock on the ‘secret beach’ at the north of the island. That particular acre is called Nつねきち internally - つねきち is Redd’s Japanese name. The ‘fake art’ mechanic is coming back, but I don’t know more details." For those unaware, Redd was a recurring character in previous games that would sell the player pieces of art to put in their museum. However, some would be forged, meaning the player would have to decipher the real artwork from the forgeries. It's good to hear that the classic feature will be returning in New Horizons.

Finally, the datamine indicates that vegetables will make their way to the game. This will give players a whole new food item to grow, which will make for exciting collectibles as the game currently only has traditional Animal Crossing fruit. The leaker claims that "tomato, wheat, sugar cane, potato, carrot, pumpkin" will be available following the update, while new fauna will also make its way to the title, including "azalea, hibiscus, holly, hydrangea, camellia, osmanthus" bushes. Overall, it seems the game will be getting a wealth of new content in the upcoming months, so players running out of things to do shouldn't have to wait too long for their next major Animal Crossing fix.
