Animal Crossing: New Horizons' 2.0. update is live, and many fans are diving into the new content. One of the new features included with the massive Animal Crossing update is the expansion to Harv's Island. Instead of just being a place to take pictures, players can invest in shops so that the merchant NPCs like Leif can permanently stay on the island, instead of waiting for a random visit on the main island. However, upgrading Harvey's island isn't as easy as it seems, as players will need to follow a few steps before the new content is available to them. Here's how players can upgrade Harv's Island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

How to Upgrade Harv's Island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Before players can upgrade the island, they will first have to find Harvey on their island, make their way to his island, and follow the tutorial for taking pictures inside his home. Players can travel to the island by going to the airport and speaking to the attendant.

Head back to the island and Animal Crossing: New Horizons players should eventually receive a letter from Harvey. The letter might come a day later, so players can either be patient or time travel. However, the only way for players to receive the letter from Harvey is if their island has at least a 3-star evaluation rating. To check on the rating, players can speak to Isabelle.

Harvey mentions in the letter that he has something cool to show players, and now they can head back to Harv's Island. Once returning, Harv will be gone, but there will now be a large area in the back for players to explore. Players can use their hard-earned Bells to invest in a shop, and it's recommended that players go with Leif first, as the NPC will sell vegetables and crops, which are new to the 2.0. update for New Horizons.

How to Get 3-Star Island Rating

Isabelle will give Animal Crossing players a small tip on how to improve the island rating, but the best thing to do is to just make the island as beautiful as it can be. Adding lots of flowers, bridges, decorations, and having the max number of villagers in the town will get players closer to the 3-star rating.
