It was recently revealed that within the first six weeks of its release, Animal Crossing: New Horizons outsold the previous two games in the series. With 13.5 million copies sold, New Horizons has introduced so many new players to the world of Animal Crossing. In turn, Nintendo has decided to continue to work on the game.

Nintendo has promised that the game will continue to receive new updates all throughout 2020 and beyond. Players have already seen some of these updates, such as the Bunny Day event that occurred during the month of April. Not to mention the recent inclusion of the art museum, which allows players to collect works of art and put them on display.

It truly is amazing how much of an impact this game has had on not just the gaming community, but the world as well. During these tense and uncertain times, it's important to have an outlet to come back to, have fun with, and express one's self creatively. There have been so amazing fan creations and island makeovers to come out already.

However, it's somewhat hard to tell what to expect from Nintendo in terms of these updates. Obviously most of them will be themed around what's happening during the year, such as the recent Bunny Day event. This could also open the door for paid DLC as well. Regardless, it seems that Nintendo has a lot in store for Animal Crossing fans.
